Gary Roberts Career Over
:(
I realize its probably due to cash issues but IMO a classless move by the Lightning.
Rather sad that Burke didn't claim him just so he can retire a Leaf.

Drag. Tough end for a classy guy.

Yea
Again I think Burke should’ve picked him up, even if they don’t play but let him retire in a dignified manner befitting of his status, and as a Leaf too to boot, the cash would not have been an issue and I’m willing to bet a majority of Leaf fans would support that move.

I’m sure if there was an inclination that Roberts was considering retirement Burke would have brought him home. But this is out of left field.

He had already announced that he would retire at the end of this season.

Roberts already said this was his last season. We knew retirement was coming.
As much as I hate to see it end like this, it’s all about developing the kids.
So long Gary, and thanks for all the hits.

I dont care if he came back and played one game (against the Sens of course) and was a healthy scratch the rest, he deserved to get his due here
