Around SBN: VIDEO: Austin Rivers' Buzzer Beater Finishes Off UNC

Initially, the thought of leaving Toronto was very difficult, but it’s nicer in a lot of ways to play hockey in a different market. When you’re at the rink, you concentrate fully on your job, but there’s an opportunity to get away from the game when you leave. In Toronto, you’re consumed by the game every minute of the day. That definitely takes a toll on players.

From that same great Working Class Howard article. Looks like Burke will have to do a better job of finding professionals as opposed to fanboys. I guess it was too much to ask to work your butt off to do all that you could to avoid injury after injury (granted, some were just bad luck). If it's such a distraction playing in a city that cares about hockey then maybe that's a problem with your discipline.

So how well did we do when he came back and took over for McCauley and Roberts? Mats scores very clutch goals in the playoffs but he was usually invisible for the other 55 minutes. Doesn’t mean I didn’t love him before he prostituted himself to Vancouver.

But it was a 4-1 game when I scored it, it’s only because my team gave up two more goals that it stands as the winner. It’s not like I broke a deadlocked match.

How odd….where was Captain Clutch’s point in the game where we got elimanted by the Devils with 6 shots?

Anyway, the defense of Sundin is almost as ridicilious because he never had any good linemates. Cause we all know that Moginly and Roberts were shit. We all know Poni has fallen completely to pieces without Mats.

Like I’m trying to explain I don’t hate the guy and that I don’t think he wasn’t clutch. He just had disappearing moments at crucial times, and he gets too much of a free pass from his lover boys that want Vancouver to win for him even though he’s done jack shit to get them where they are. Maybe if Mats contributed a bit more, I could cheer for them but while he continues to be useless I can’t bring myself to do it.

There are hundreds of moments we can use to praise Mats. I’m ripping him now because he has his faults and he has had moments where he wasn’t the shiny god you’re making him out to be.

I like Mats, in fact I love Mats but there is no reason to be kissing his ass when he is playing like a glorified 4th liner.

How am I dumping on his legacy? I just said he wasn’t everything he was made out to be. I said he scored plenty of clutch goals for us. I never said he was a shit player for us or a poor leader.

And we’re getting into pathetic insults now? What is this? High School? Sorry I gravely offended by saying you by saying you’re favourite player is the greatest thing to walk on the planet.

From my Keep Sundin post, which seems ten years ago now:

The point is, I feel like a loser enough of the time anyways. I don’t need to be sitting in front of the TV in June, cheering for Mats to win the cup for Detroit or San Jose or someone. You know who that’s for? Bruins fans. Well, fuck that.

Especially considering he’s lacing them up for a team with legions of douchebag supporters who have spent the Mats career dumping on him and trolling the Leafs and their fans. In short, eyebleaf, you’ve made a terrible mistake.

I love the rip on Bruins fans. Chemmy brought up an old post where I got a good dig in on them too.

I agree wholeheartedly. I love Mats and all he did for the team but I could never, ever, ever, ever throw my support behind the Canucks. To do so would make me physically ill.

I’ve always kind of liked the Canucks. This goes back many years.

I don’t live there, don’t know about their douchebag fanbase. I’m sure many other cities think the same of our fanbase, so to each city their own.

i like the canucks. have since the harold druken, morrison, bert days…and luongo is my fav goalie…it works…

You know I do read Cox Bloc, so fret not.

But I’ve liked the Canucks since the days before reading Cox Bloc…before reading any blogs.

I’m sure they think our fanbase is douchetastic as well. That’s my point.

I’d be cheering for which ever team Sundin signed with, truthfully. I just want him to go out a winner.

Pre-pulishing problems-

Initially, the thought of leaving Toronto the KFC near the ACC was very difficult, but it’s nicer in a lot of ways to play hockey hit the all-you-can-eat buffet in a different market. When you’re at the rink, you concentrate fully on your job next meal, but there’s an opportunity to get away from the game when you leave and sneak a 12-pack of Tim Horton’s. In Toronto, you’re consumed by the game growling stomach every minute of the day. That definitely takes a toll on players linemates who are counting on you to be at a certain level of physical fitness.
