Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Hmmm, I remember some other goalie reacting pretty poorly to the old Bronx cheer. Whatever happened to him?

I actually feel bad for Price

I hope, for his sake, that he can get out of Montreal. He’s still a good goalie, and seems like a good kid. Not his fault that Gainey totally mismanaged him to satisfy his own ego.

And good on him for telling those fans where to stick it.

I just laugh because Habs fans think that they don’t do shit like that when of course they do.

Also, it’s funny that Price was known as ‘cool, calm, and collected’ but he also faked punching a Bruins fan that was heckling him after he got pulled in game 3.

Well, there’s a good chance the guy was also a Red Sox fan. Can’t blame Price for that one.

GO SOX

I feel kinda bad for price but it’s not my fault he’s a dirty stinking hab. Over on the sens SBN site there was a story about his hometown, and how he didn’t have a lot growing up.

He should move to a nice town that’s a little less hockey crazy. Hmmmm…..one of the colorado newspapers just folded.

I really can’t blame him at all for it. It was more a move of exasperation rather than an F-U to the fans. Like “what do you want me to do?!”

I don't feel bad for Price at all

Look at his stats for the series. They’re garbage. He’s shit.

Patrick Roy, when he did what he did, was a Stanley Cup winner. A Conn Smythe trophy winner. A Vezina trophy winner.

Price has accomplished nothing, and has the attitude of someone who has.

Reality check, buddy. You stink.

Exactly. Poor Price is playing like an underdeveloped AHL prospect. They tried to make him an NHL star too quick.

by general borschevsky on Apr 23, 2009 3:34 PM EDT up reply actions

yeah, he earned the NHL time at the start, but then when he started to falter, they kept him up because he was the “Franchise goalie”
then they traded Huet and were left without the option to send him back down

Because Taking The Leafs Seriously Is Not An Option

by JaredFromLondon on Apr 23, 2009 3:36 PM EDT up reply actions

they should’ve sent him down to the AHL for a few games when he was struggling after the ASG to get his form and confidence back

stead they just kept throwing him in the line of fire light after light until what was left of his nerves was completely shot

seriously...?

come on.

Pogge was the “franchise goalie of the future” and we couldn’t get Cujo and Toskala out of the way fast enough earlier this season.

For the record, I hate Pogge.

Franchise goalie of the future yes, but i dont recall anyone guarenteeing this kid was gonna be as good as Felix was, or carry us to the cup, or save the franchise from the brink.

also, your feelings for Pogge are a shock

Because Taking The Leafs Seriously Is Not An Option

by JaredFromLondon on Apr 23, 2009 3:51 PM EDT up reply actions

i know...

i’ve been SO subtle in regards to Pogge. I felt it best to get it out in the open finally.

:P

Pogge was wasting away in the AHL before he got called up. I recall a myriad reasons why he wasn’t playing well, none of them had to do with him sucking. Which he does.

by blurr1974 on Apr 23, 2009 3:55 PM EDT up reply actions

the reason we latched on to Pogge so readily was because, well he was the first goaltending prospect since 91 the leafs have ever had. He had the medal and he has a good skill set.
He was over hyped, but I still think he can, and one day, will be a starter in the NHL.

Because Taking The Leafs Seriously Is Not An Option

by JaredFromLondon on Apr 23, 2009 4:00 PM EDT up reply actions

There’s still time for Pogge. Don’t start hating him until he’s won the staring job on the Leafs and then goes on to boast about being a .500 goalie while sporting an .875 save percentage. Then you can hate him.

Not really his fault when his teammates only score 6 goals in 4 games and play shitty defense.

The only way this could be more devastating to Montreal is if Price gets traded to the Leafs and leads them to 7 back to back Stanley cups.

This brings warmth to my cold, cold heart.

It annoys the habs twattish fans who don’t understand their team is a bit fucked. You have more than just goaltending issues, guys. You got dominated everywhere.

And it makes Price look like like a dick.

TBH, Price is still a better prospect than anyone we have, But he’d need to go back to basics in his development and an attitude adjustment before I’d take him. And a functioning glove hand too.
