Who says we can only have fun at the expense of defeated Canadian teams? Luckily Mr. K reminded me of this prescient post from December. At least they didn't flame out in the second round this time right?

I like the comparison of the Sharks to the Sens.

Bah, the Sharks at least saw a Game Six.

I had thought about it the other day and just remembered when I read his post. It’s working out because now our coach is vindicated and our GM looks good too and we get an epic Detroit-Anaheim series.

Damien

doesn’t agree with you:

Ron Wilson was clearly not the problem in San Jose.

And no, Brian Burke did not leave the Anaheim Ducks in shambles.

That would be the angle a hardcore member of the Leaf Nation might take from Anaheim’s stunning first round upset of the Sharks, completed last night in Orange County.

Now, this is clearly a myopic, Toronto-based way of looking at things, and certainly from a hockey-wide point-of-view there are a lot of other perspectives on what went wrong for San Jose and what went right for the Ducks

He kind of goes on to play both sides of the argument, it got a little confusing and then I realized I shouldn’t read his stuff anyway for the benefit of my blood pressure.

Anyway I think he ended up saying that Ron wasn’t the single problem, but this does not show that Ron is a fantastic coach. Ditto with Burke in the GM role.

Yeah he pretty much wobbled back and forth while getting in some snipes on wilson and burke without actually saying anything. It’s either incredibly stupid or brilliant.

In fairness, Todd did indeed get it done in San Jose. And about two weeks faster than normal.

At least you’re true to your signature – brutally realistic about the present.
