“Grabovski became the first Toronto rookie to score 20 goals since Russian-born Sergei Berezin had 25 in 1996-97. The key to Grabovski becoming a top-flight NHLer will be consistency. He scored only three goals in 39 games between Dec. 2 and March 9.

Otherwise, Wilson and GM Brian Burke have been impressed with his competitive fire, particularly in games against his former team, Montreal.

He also leads the Leafs with 92 penalty minutes."

Yes, JFL,

But we CAN catch them if it doesn’t go well. Or does go well. I’m so confused.

We still do have trade options to get ahead in the draft.

Any thoughts? PPP?

It’ll be tough because the teams behind the Leafs (or ahead?) are all really terrible. They need those young kids. The best bet would be Atlanta because they have to re-sign Kovalchuk so they’ll need to improve ASAP. If they end up draft 4th maybe they’ll be tempted by a guy like Kaberle.

He might have the same feelings that I think Price has- I’m almost convinced he’s just sick and tired of playing for the Habs. I think if Vinnie sensed we’re going to make a serious run in the next few years, he’d consider it. And that would be, to quote Mitchell, fucking sweet.

Well, if the guys play well what can you do?

Would you rather they have rolled over all year? Because I don’t want those kinds of players on the Leafs.

Lol I know what you’re saying and 99% of the time I’d definitely agree with you – but this is that 1% where I wish they did roll over. I’m not asking for a full blown tank, but can’t they just lose the last 3? I mean pretty please lol … if it’s not teasing us with a chance of making the playoffs, it’s teasing us with a high draft pick only to SNATCH it away in the last few days.

I just got tickets to tomorrow night’s game at the ACC. As I’ve lined up a baby sitter and plan on making an evening of it, I’m quite confident the Leafs will get shelled 7-1 and i’ll be stuck in a section full of Sabres fans.

I dunno about that, the Sabres probably feel a little down after all but being eliminated from the race last night. Then again, maybe not.

by WildWolfdog on Apr 7, 2009 10:37 PM EDT up reply actions

At least the tickets were free…might be Cujo’s last game as a Leaf (until he comes in to relieve Geber in the final game of the Tank Cup vs. Ottawa).

P.s. I’m also a little pissed off because I started Danis instead of Gerber (if these are my goalies then I really shouldn’t have hope anyway … but injuries etc) tonight not only because I thought the Devils would feast on us before they start the playoffs but also so I don’t have any reason to cheer for the Leafs tonight.

by WildWolfdog on Apr 7, 2009 10:35 PM EDT reply actions

And the Jays also won tonight with a come from behind sacrifice fly. This is like 1993 again. Without the playoffs or acid wash jeans, of course.

Well, that’d mean forking out £35 a month for Sky+ (the UK equivalent) and then another £15 just so’s I can get Setanta and the half a dozen games a week of NASN’s choice. And then not watch a bunch of games that I already know the score of. Or involve teams I’m either entirely apathetic about or actively dislike.

Or I can pay £12 a month to get Centre Ice online.

I see your point. I’ve heard hockey is slowly but surely catching on there, driven in large part by Canuck uni students. That true? I think TSN may live stream their games, but I’m not sure if that applies out of Canada.
Also, I think CBC streams their games.
