In 2000, sales of Olestra had halved. Late night talk show hosts and hack comedians everywhere joked about it. The product that was supposed to change the way the world snacked was a bust. Why? It all came down to the warning label:
Olestra may cause abdominal cramping and loose stools.
In fairness, eating just a few Olestra-laden chips wasn’t going to make you Spackle your shorts with greasy ass jelly.

they’re just… not communicating with me. There are reasons I’ve done things a certain way and when you sit two rows over from me why send an e-mail instead of walk over and ask the question? And also please come talk to me if you’re changing something I’ve designed rather than completely taking it over and running with it without me knowing until you realize there’s an issue with your design and now you’ve burned your hours for that item…

face to face communication is dead these days
when I was in the Kitchener office, I would personally deliver reports to the project manager of another PC myself, they would gave me looks like I’m crazy, because I didn’t use the intra-office mailing system to send them a report when the guy’s office is a 30 second walk from my cubicle

yeah, it pisses me off though… people are always amazed when I go up and ask them a question in person. But you resolve things SO much faster.
Also, there’s a reason our company leased an entire floor in another building from our main office and put everyone who’s working on this project together here. SO WE CAN TALK TO EACHOTHER IN PERSON.

to clarify, that’s also party the fault of the refs who yield to him every time he bitches about call
wasn’t really an issue but I have noticed it this past season and the last to a slightly lesser extent
"God's in His heaven. All's right with the world." - Robert Browning (1812-1889)
again...
based on what?
he’s the captain. it’s his job to communicate with the refs. I think your basing this more on your hatred of a Habs uni than the guy wearing it.
He’s always played a stand up game, even on this current squad of slew footers and boarding aficionados. When Grabbo was running all over the ice, spearing Price and hitting everything that moved in one game earlier this season, Koivu was the only guy on the habs that actually talked to Grabbo. No idea what was said, but I got the impression he was telling him to chill out.
I don’t think it’ll happen, chances are he’ll sign with the Wild to play with his brother, but still, the Habs/Leafs games would be insanely chippy if he ever did sign with the Leafs

I dunno
Can’t cite any specific examples right now
maybe you are right and I am letting my biased hatred of the Habs seep into my judgement, but I don’t disparage his skills or leadership, and even if he is showing a sense of entitlement I’m also blaming the refs for caving in to him so often to reinforce that attitude
either way I honestly don’t expect to see Saku back in Montreal next year, even less likely to play in Toronto

Andreas Lilja quote of the day
It’s small-man’s syndrome. We know we’re better than Finland, and they feel bad about that. It’s been like that for a long time, but I think it’s gotten better. Like maybe 20 years ago, we hated Finns, but now, well, anyway, I like Fill (Valtteri Filppula) and (Ville) Leino. I’ve hung out with Finns, though you have to call the government to get permission to hang out with them. But Fill, he’s a Swede wanna-be; he applied for Swedish citizenship, so we were cleared to hang out with him.

Neat story
Twittering Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor opened a campaign last Wednesday to raise money for Eric De La Cruz, a Nevada Medicaid patient in need of a heart transplant. Both Nine Inch Nails and tour mates Jane’s Addiction are offering special deals for the remaining shows on their tour to fundraise for De La Cruz’s hopeful transplant.
A $300 donation will grant concert attendees access to the pre-show soundcheck and a meet-and-greet with the band, while $1,000 will get you backstage for dinner and relaxing with the band, as well as stage-side viewing for the show, autographs and pictures. For fans without tickets, a $1,200 donation comes with two tickets to the show and VIP treatment backstage. This is NIN’s final tour, so fans of the band will want to seize this opportunity.
i’m too lazy to summarize…

From Mirtle, re: Phoenix
The judge has ruled that there will be a hearing on the relocation issue on June 9 and an auction of the team on June 22. Both dates have to be seen as positives from the Moyes/Balsillie side of things, as these proceedings are being moved along rather quickly. (If the NHL wins on the relocation issue, however, the auction will be pushed into September and Balsillie will be out of the picture.)
Sooooooo… June 9th is the big day!
