Painting The Town Red
This headline turned out to be only 50% as accurate/awesome as I'd hoped.
- Rounding off the...whatever the antonym of 'festivities' is, of yesterday - Down Goes Brown posts the official NHL line on Kerry Fraser day, along with a soberly dressed Cherry.
- mf37 and Out of Left Field remember the day that will live in infamy too.
- Too busy to read all of Dr. Steve and the San Jose template yesterday? Shame on you, XBox generation, here is the tl:dr version.
- Further tributes to Peter Zezel, from MLHS, Suite 101 and Vintage Leafs...
- ...who also links to the animated 10 point night of Darryl Sittler.
- T.O. Sports has the third edition of their classic Leaf lines.
- And Jared takes a look at the current, ahhhh....vintage.
- Maple Leaf Hot Stove returns with the differing fortunes of DiDomenico and Mitchell in recent weeks.
- Over at Barry Melrose Rocks, Loser Domi has an open letter to Tomas Holmstrom.
- And perhaps not surprisingly, the Caps are strongly refuting yesterday's Steroidal accusations. Puck Daddy, the Fanhouse and On Frozen Blog report.
- Playoffs! Blackhawks 1 - 2 Red Wings (Red Wings win series 4 - 1 and are the 2008/9 Western Conference Champions).

My favorite line, as per Google Translate:
Ill were brilliant Wendel Clark from the opportunity to bring victory home. Ruthlessly exported almost sure of the championship!
Down Goes Brown - Unapologetically nostalgic for the past. Brutally realistic about the present. Grudgingly optimistic about the future.

their ‘pretty good fans’ pretty much abandoned the team while they stunk for 10 years. they’re no better than habs fans.
they’re basically the same as pittsburgh, except they sucked for a longer period but not quite as badly. the pens had 5 top 5 picks to get where they are, the hawks had 3.
and the hard-on the league had for chicago this year made me want to puke.
but my hate for them has nothing to do with the cup drought. that’s just an added bonus.

despite being owner, he tried to run the team as well. He was behind the stripping of the team with Lanny McDonald and so on until they finally convinced Darryl Sittler to accept a trade.
He tried to make Roger Neilson wear a paper bag on his head while coaching a game.
Apparently he was a good friend if he liked you, but look out otherwise.

As a fan of the NHL (outside of Pittsburgh), one almost has to root for the Detroit Red Wings to repeat. Think about it hockey fans; how many times are NBC and Versus going to shove Crosby skating around with the Stanley Cup down our faces over the summer and next season?
