Still in Calamari City.
PITTSBURGH @ DETROIT 8 PM EST NBC CBC RDS. It's a back to back game sitch and it seems like everyone is in a tizzy over it. Except perhaps people who follow other hockey leagues and know this is common. Their typical response is "man up, moose" and I have to agree. Pavel Datsyuk looks to be out for the Wings injured still. So is Don Draper, I mean Kris. Marc Andre Fleury was a puppy on a linoleum floor last night. He was sloppy and in all the wrong places. But this is a best of seven series and it's not like last night was a total blowout. Really it could have been worse than it was.
This is your game thread and I can't stand these NBC announcers.

I’m watching it on CBC. Props to CBC (for once) having Hughson call the game and not Cole.

Knowing the CBC, it’s not one position it’s a team of no-less than 5.
I did a media event a few weeks back. We had 14 media out. No outlet sent more than a single staffer. CBC sent four people (producer, sound, camera and ???).

Speaking of Garth Snow
Don’t know that I fully agree with this, but thought Steve Simmons (ick) made a somewhat interesting point today:
Maple Leafs general manager Brian Burke would like nothing better than to make a deal with Tampa Bay GM Brian Lawton to move up to the second pick in the NHL draft but it’s almost impossible to try to get anything done with Tampa Bay because the two owners, Len Barrie and Oren Koules, aren’t on speaking terms and you need three people to agree on something before you can finalize anything … Also picking ahead of the Leafs are Atlanta, with ownership problems; Colorado, without a general manager; and the Islanders, who may be moving to Kansas City …

Yeah, it’s a shit show ahead of him. I veer between “that’ll just make it easier to rip them off” and “this means nothing is getting done”
Pension Plan Puppets: A Toronto Maple Leafs blog and a group therapy session.
Colorado is a mess due to the absence of a GM and Atlanta is a mess due to the presence of a GM, but I get the feeling the situation in Tampa and Long Island is a bit of an exaggeration. Still, not the ideal situation to try to swing a deal.
