IIHF WC Observations: Grabovski playing defenseman-like minutes...
Mikhail Grabovski's final stats for the World Championships in Switzerland: 7 GP, 3 G, 6 A, 9 Pts, -1, 1 PPG, 22 Shots (13.64 %) and a whopping 191:43 minutes of ice time. That comes down to to 27:23 per game, second on the team only to defenseman Ruslan Salei (who played in one less game...). However, even his three-assist effort this afternoon couldn't help Grabovski and the Belarussians against *real* Russia, who had timely goals by both Alexander Frolov and Ilya Kovalchuk to help them advance to the semi-finals.
The Leafs also have a stake in another Belarus skater: Mikhail Stefanovich, albeit he was used only sparingly in four games by coach Glen Hanlon. Perhaps we will see him back next year in Germany. Not so for Grabovski - as he will be busy with Toronto's playoff run ... hopefully.
IIHF WC statistics can be found here. But beware, everything's buried in PDFs over here.

Wow
Those are crazy minutes. I hope that he doesn’t go to arbitration this summer.

Well, as I understand it, each side presents it’s case to the arbitrator using the closest comparable players. I’d assume that they focus on solely NHL achievements but if I was an agent I’d try to use this as well.
