Shawn Thornton – I don’t have any (Stanley Cup memories) because I was a Leafs fan and they never got close. I have a memory of Wayne Gretzky clipping Dougie Gilmour (in 1993) and there was no penalty call and then he scored. That was the one that I remember and it isn’t a great one.
Whether it was a penalty or not, I was a young kid and I got caught in the Toronto media trap and I was bitching just like everybody else. I haven’t seen the game since then so I don’t even know it was a penalty or not. I think I went to the Skydome to watch that game with my folks and there was a big crowd there and everybody was up in arms. Obviously I couldn’t get tickets to Maple Leaf Gardens because they cost too much (money).
Shawn Thornton's memory is almost perfect down to going to the SkyDome to watch game seven. It's not the media trap it's the truth. Poor guy got screwed along with the rest of us.

It is!
That’s http://www.hockeyblogadventure.com/ not www.hockeyblogadventure.com but both of those will probably get turned into good links.
And having blogs with three-word URLs is stupid.

Without the http for some reason always posts a link that starts with ppp.

well, the a href=“text in here” turns relative if you don’t put that on there, and I think it views this post as a folder on the server.

Good that the quote is from the correct Thornton – the one that seems to know what the playoffs are about.

Savard
Man, did you guys see the Marc Savard one? Gretzky’s 1993 hat trick and Gilmour’s wraparound against the Blues? Because he was a Leafs guy and Gretzky was his idol.
I’m hardly one to talk about single allegiances, but that conflict is tough to reconcile.
Lighthouse Hockey: Side effects may include Weight gain and frequent game loss.
I’ve hated Gretzky ever since that Game 6 in 1993 when Gilmour stood there bleeding and Gretzky skated around with the biggest guilty look on his face. I still respected his game but sincerely wished he would never win a Cup again.

I could never hate Gretz…I save my hate for Fraser…because he deserves it…no player on any team will ever fess up to a penalty…and to expect him to is folly.

Actually, a lot of people hate Crosby, I mean really hate him. Sure he is a whiner and is a bit douchey sometimes, but hate is a pretty strong emotion.

Obviously lots of people hate him, but I think it’s a bit of a bandwagon thing. The guy works harder than almost any other player in the league, and puts up with a lot of extra coverage, including clutching, grabbing, etc.. In the past two games, he’s put up with a lot from the the Wings without complaint, and become a lot grittier. The guy is just a fantastic hockey player, and is no more a whiner than anyone else. Whether or not Ovie is any better than Crosby is a moot point. Crosby’s in the Finals now.
exactly
this same time last year, he was a diver.
now he’s a whiner.
what ever will he be called next year?

I didn’t expect him to fess up but to score the goal second later was rubbing salt in raw wounds.

Finding out that Savardis a Leafs guy hurts more when they could have got him after he left Atlanta.

To be fair, there are a ton of Leaf fans in the NHL. And we’ve got this one. na-na-na-na-boo-boo

screw Savard
he backed out of fighting Sidney Crosby, after the kid called his bluff. We don’t need no sissies.
Oh yeah
Good point.
