-The Boston Bruins have altered their proposal and are now offering Phil Kessel and the 25th overall pick for Tomas Kaberle.
-Brian Burke is offering the Los Angeles Kings the 7th overall pick and 58th overall pick in exchange for the 5th overall pick. The Leafs would use this selection to take Brayden Schenn.
Wholly unsubstantiated draft rumours from Leafs Leaks.Take them for what they are: rumours.

First I’ve heard or seen of either proposal…

It’s called a newspaper subscription. If the globe went to pay-for-coverage I would probably pay to get Fluto Shinzawa and would end up with KPD as well.

why isn’t it 4:30 yet, and why does bud light with lime have to be so damn expensive?
by Plea From A Cat Named Felix on Jun 26, 2009 1:32 PM EDT reply actions
For the grievous sins of voluntarily drinking Bud Light and beer with artificial citrus flavour, you deserve to over-pay for it.

x2
Everyone’s going ape for this stuff and I’m like ‘buy 24 Brava for $28 bucks and a lime for $0.50’ – Bud Light with lime is still Bud Light.
True, but it comes in ALUMINUM BOTTLES!!!!!

Wouldn’t that make the price of a case astronomical?
by Its Cold In Here on Jun 26, 2009 2:12 PM EDT up reply actions
That’s my point, they’re selling that shizz for $44 a case, but if you get a $15 dollar return on aluminum bottles to bring the price down from the stratosphere, it’s a great deal!
That’s insane. A bud light is half a beer, the price should be set accordingly.

Bruins don’t even own the 26th pick

Here is Kevin Dupont talking more about the deal sans picks.

You called me out on my “Leafse” yesterday, so I owed you one

lol
No problem. I appreciate it!
Pension Plan Puppets: A Toronto Maple Leafs blog and a group therapy session.
So if both of these deals go down, Leafs get Schenn, Kessel and a late first round pick and give up Kaberle, a second round pick and what might be Jared Cowen? I’d take it.
by Leaf in Habland on Jun 26, 2009 1:44 PM EDT reply actions
Not quite
It wouldn’t involve the 7th pick.
Pension Plan Puppets: A Toronto Maple Leafs blog and a group therapy session.
And I really wanted to be looking forward to Chara, Kaberle, Wideman, and Cowen as the top 4

But the leafs lose the 7th (Cowen?) to get the 5th.
by Its Cold In Here on Jun 26, 2009 1:47 PM EDT up reply actions
But...
It took more than a second round pick to move up 2 spots i nthe first round last year, will Lombardi take less return?

Market was softer at the trade deadline so maybe today too?
Pension Plan Puppets: A Toronto Maple Leafs blog and a group therapy session.
HAHAHAHAHA
Honestly, McCabe made Kaberle look good. The B’s need at least an additional pick if they go this route.
-boston.com commenter. Classic.
Yea, I read that the guy from ‘Nucks Misconduct said that the deal as originally reported wasn’t a fair one from the Bruin’s perspective.
Do people really hate the leafs that much?

Kaberle's hindrance to fame
is the uni he wears. If he goes to Boston they’ll be claiming he’s better than Lidstrom…

Or maybe even as high praise as almost as good as Chara.

Some people don’t get that a puck moving d-man (and decent PP QB) is more rare than an almost point per game forward (who has only done that in a contract year).

Sigh
Every time I think people can’t be any stupider, they have to go and prove me wrong.
I get it – people are simpering morons. Stop proving it to me every time you open your mouths!
And the next person who badmouths Kabby gets face time with sweet lady brick.
"If this is another one of your lectures about how we should all blah blah blah and whatever, well you can save it because we all know it by heart."
Never go to local press commenters. The ones in Boston aren’t any smarter than the ones in Toronto, or anywhere else.

I try to avoid commenters everywhere (save here) but it still rankles. I mean, Kabby is a great player, and I’m sick of people saying that he can’t be because he plays in Toronto. I’m a little protective of Rosey Cheeks,
"If this is another one of your lectures about how we should all blah blah blah and whatever, well you can save it because we all know it by heart."
Really, he should look even better when compared with all the actually crappy players we have.

What was the going rate
for a top 3 selection supposed to be?
5th + 25th + 2nd round in 2010 + Kubina?
Tampa does need Dmen, and they could get Kubina + Cowen. I guess Cowen might not be NHL ready though, especially with the knee
