Where will Tavares land? Do we need to take up a collection for the bail money requried for Chemmy, PPP and the gang should Burke make a steal or two tonight? Do I have any other questions?

Thought it was on the same TSN interview, something along the lines that he wanted to captain the Leafs but a certain #13, his favourite player was occupying that role when he wrote some essay.

Eric Duhatschek: Just talked to a guy with Colorado connections and he’s been told by two separate sources that, in all probability, John Tavares will be there at No. 3, for the Avalanche to pick. That’ll be something – if the Islanders really do go ahead and take Duchene with the first overall pick.
and to that I say, Snow doesn’t strike me as the kinda GM that wouldn’t think to trade down and pick up some more pieces along the way. Tampa’s willing to listen, and it’s very likely at 2nd Snow would still be able to pick Duchene.
I think TSN said their draft show starts at 7, first pick goes down around 7:30. We’ll see whether they stick to that or not.

It’s gotta be Tavares.. The media can speculate all it wants but it’s the smartest hockey and business pick (well you could argue it is at worst a tie for hockey pick but that still makes it number 1)

MONTREAL—With no deals to be had, the Maple Leafs are set to pick seventh tonight in the NHL draft.
The scenarios for that pick go like this.
If Spokane defenceman Jared Cowan is available – Phoenix is expected to grab him first – the Leafs will grab him.
If not,GM Brian Burke is expected to go for either London forward Nazem Kadri or Swedish defenceman Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Larsson is a high-end offensive blueliner who would be the obvious successor to Tomas Kaberle, now a certainly to be traded this summer after he was nearly dealt to Boston today.
I rather have Dmitry Kulikov than OEL.
