The Toronto Maple Leafs made qualifying offers to Mikhail Grabovski and minor leaguers Darryl Boyce, Alex Foster, Ryan Hamilton, Justin Pogge and Tim Stapleton to keep this group six restricted free agents.
This means that Toronto Marlies players Andre Deveaux, Jay Harrison, Ryan Hollweg, Erik Reitz, Andy Rogers, Jaime Sifers and Jeremy Williams will be free to sign with other clubs this summer or re-sign with the Leafs/Marlies.
Tim Wharnsby finally delivers the news that Leafs fans were waiting to find out. It only took until about 18 hours after the deadline to find out.

I concur. I liked Williams. Grapes will no doubt devote an entire Coaches corner to him in October when some team picks him up for a song and he scores 4 goals in 7 games.

Our problem was, we didn’t keep calling him up and sending him down.

They have got rid of more toughness by letting those guys go than we have brought in all together.
Phil-O I had hopes for. Williams over Foster, come on!

Andre Deveaux and Ryan Hollweg were only faux tough.

that’s true. Hollweg had such promise, he led the preseason in hits and fights, what else did they want from him? At least he showed up. But, bye bye baggage.
Unfortunately
In the regular season, I think he lead the leafs in punches taken.
That’s a real stat right??

Murray's a genius
I have to go throw up and gargle with acid now.

Rejected by Heatley. What an ass.

Ummmm
Well, it’s on hold for one thing and it’s not very good for another.
Penner stinks. He’ll have the same problem playing with the sens as he had with the Oilers.
Cogliano is good but he’s an RFA after next season and Smid is an RFA now.
The sens get a bit more balance but they’ll have to give two of those guys big raises if they want to keep them.

Now that they're qualified...
….we just have to see how much $$$/term it takes to get them signed.

I’m glad they qualified Boyce. I got to know him a bit when he played for UNB a couple years ago and he is a good guy and a very hard worker.
I’m disapointed they are letting Hollweg go. He is an effective 4th line pest when he starts taking runs at people. Kinda seemed like he was too cautious after the suspensions.
Oh well, hopefully the Leafs sign a few fighters this summer.

Boyce is a good guy. I went to high school with him.
How the hell can you want Hollweg? He’s an embarrassment to the league and all it should take is one suspension to make you careful. GOOD RIDDANCE.
