Dany Heatley wants out of Ottawa
TSN has confirmed that the 28-year old who signed a six-year, $45 million contract extension with the team in October of 2007 - that includes a no-movement clause - informed the team a week ago of his desire to play hockey elsewhere.

Transcript of a conversation with some Sens fans just now that I may or may not have been involved in:
Sens fan #1: He seems like an LA kind of guy.
Sens fan #2: His Ferarri would blend in.
Unidentified Leafs fan: Yeah, into a concrete wall.

Its good to see Leafs and Sabres fans think the same way on certain things.

late first rounder for a team that needs secondary scoring? Sure.

Heatley returning to Atlanta? I don’t think so. L.A. is intriguing but I see them being more willing to move Johnson than give up a pick. They might trade down.

I would assume salary is going back to Ottawa as well but the guys have 130+ goals over the past 3 years…

sounds reasonable. I shudder to think what would happen to the Bell Centre if the Sens draft Schenn (brother of God Jr.)

THANK GOD WE BEAT OTTAWA IN THE LAST GAME OF THE SEASON AND ENDED UP DRAFTING BEHIND LA, HUH?

Damn that’s true and that was all the way back in Game 1

We’ll live to regret that useless game.

Shawn Thornton was referred to as a power forward the other day, I had a good chuckle over that.

Interesting that when Heatley is wearing a maple leaf on his jersey he gets mad goals.
I am not suggesting the Leafs get him because the Toronto streets are already dangerous enough.

Whoa
The senators DO need a puck-moving defenceman and he does play no defence so he’ll fit in.

I could drive myself crazy with rumors and speculation about where Heatley might go, but I’d rather just point and laugh at the Senators and their fans.

You should see the trade scenario Sens fans are coming up with on sites like hfboards.
I’m waiting for somebody to propose Heatley for Ovechkin, Green and a first.

That’s Leaf country when it comes to trades.
I actually heard a trade proposal by a Leaf fan last year on the radio that had STajan, Antropov and someone else for Mike Green and Varlamov (this is while he was still in the minors).
Disappointed since 1984
Your right, thats a crazy proposal
Surely the Leafs could have gotten more than that for Stajan and Antropov :)

This is actually a good one
Albeit from an Edmonton fan…
To Ottawa
2009 1st round pick 10th overall.
Patrick O’Sullivan 2.925M cap hit
Tom Gilbert 4M cap hit.
To Edmonton
Danny Heatley 7.5M cap hit.
wow, if the Sens get that they’ll be improving their team……

I just thought of that. Heatley would rival Ovechkin for goals…

I think he could crest 50, but I’m not seeing 60+ out of Heatley just cause of Hemsky…I like Edmonton getting him out of Ottawa, but I don’t like the idea of Ottawa doing well with the deal. basically I want Tambellini to rob them blind

I hope he goes to a team without a Center
Im not saying Spezza is much of a center, but the dude can piss the biscuit. I am curious to see how he plays on a team without a center feeding him passes.
Disappointed since 1984
remember Atlanta????

Ya I remember Atlanta, but do you not remember he was a power forward then? The player he is now, is not even close to being the player he was before.
Disappointed since 1984
yeah
but it’s not like he can’t perform without a center. It seems he’s gotten lazy with Spezza or something, but he’s capable of doing it on his own as well.

and I remember him being nothing special until Savard got there…

Another VERY gifted playmaker. Heatley can put the puck in the net, he needs someone to dish it to him tho
Disappointed since 1984
I think the season Savard came to the Thrashers was Heatley’s sophomore one. He had a about a 20 point increase over his rookie year.
Ever since then, he’s had a gifted center for him, in addition to an equally capable winger to take some of the heat off (Kovalchuk and Krusty)
I just don’t like how as I said before, he bails at the first sign of adversity. I’m willing to cut him some slack for Atlanta, as no matter what, that had to be difficult. But in Ottawa, the team is falling apart, and he wants to walk. Last year he wanted to be a Senator for another 7 years…

apparently it’s his dislike for Clouston that is behind his request.

He’s not dealing well with Clouston’s crazy new “work hard and actually care about something other than personal statistics” policy.

I have no clue what’s going on in Sens-land really, but I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for Heatley…..

In his defence, it does seem like a crazy policy, and I’m not sure it would actually work. I mean, the sens had tonnes of success in the post-season without it…
