I’m with you, because I don’t think we would’ve made the playoffs next year with them anyway.

by lordosis on Jul 1, 2009 11:25 AM EDT up reply actions

we want Taylor Hall, and the playoffs? Can’t have both.

I’m with you, but that might just be because of our burgeoning business venture.

I’m with you because they aren’t crazy enough for me. Or Belorussian enough, come to think.

Not a bad deal for the Canucks, but they would have demanded a lot more in FA.

Very happy we did not get them

DING DING DING!!

Disappointed since 1984

The remaining UFAs are going to be quite overpaid methinks. Though the counterargument is that those that have reupped already have taken some discounts. This deal with the Sedins is actually pretty damn good, and Bouwmeester isn’t that bad either.

by lordosis on Jul 1, 2009 11:26 AM EDT up reply actions

find me a free agent signing that wasn’t overpaid…

Hagman?

I could probably come up with a better example, but my brain is fried.

by lordosis on Jul 1, 2009 11:30 AM EDT up reply actions

Hagman is the perfect example. He may be underpaid by today’s standards.

by Clawson on Jul 1, 2009 11:31 AM EDT up reply actions

Hagman is awesome

$3M per for a 3rd liner who can do some 2nd line work…?

If the Leafs weren’t so crappy at forward, he’d be further down the depth chart.

And, I LOVE the guy…

Thank God

Wendelkarma comes through again. Now I can continue hating Vancouver and those creepy twins.

This is good because the deal got done early. Now Burke can focus on something else. I would not mind the Sedins, but I would mind if we didn’t get them after negotiating for a couple hours today and missed out on other possibilities.

by Leaf in Habland on Jul 1, 2009 11:35 AM EDT reply actions

We don’t need the Sedins to distract Burke. Chiarelli’s had him on hold for four days now.

Here's a thought...

Hossa and Cammalleri…

Word is Hossa turned down the Wings offer and will hit the market today.

Hossa wants to win now, my guess is he signs a deal with a team that he sees as a contender…Hawks? Caps?

Yea

Don’t want Hossa but he will never sign with a team on the rebuild.

Cammalleri at this point is the last best hope we have haha.
