I think Gaborik is going to have a good year, he’s had surgery on both hips, that should help his injury situation. That said if the Habs sign him I hope he doesn’t go for less than 10.0 cap hit.

Thought he had groin issues? Or is that in addition to his hips. With him, who knows. Good when he plays, but not worth a big or long contract.
groin issues happen a lot in hockey due to over compensation for bad hips…Toskala and Jagr had bad hips and it caused lots of groin injuries

I love Mirtle
But I don’t quite understand him all the time. Yesterday, he was defending the Gomez deal a bit (though he did mention that giving up McDonagh was an overpayment). And today, he’s saying he doesn’t like the Orr signing cause he can’t play and it’s long term.
Maybe I’m biased but the Leafs can always just buyout or stash Orr in the minors if necessary, it’s only a mil per year, and they got him free. Don’t see much risk to this signing.

i remember sitting at my cottage 3 or 4 years ago, the day after canada day, reading about the Kubina signing (and Hal Gill, if memory serves). it was a lot of money at the time, but I still had high hopes. it really didn’t pan out the way i hoped. no hard feelings though, good luck to kubina in atlanta… he’s going to need it.
