Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Insert 90s Reference Here

A Princess' job is never done. I always have to be in peril and wait around on some dude with a sword to come pry open a door. Like Lindsay Lohan and her current relationship with locksmiths. But in between brushing my hair, and having woodland creatures help me do domestic activities, I found it in me to cobble together a FTB before my stepmother beats me. I think I covered the Disney franchise. Also Youtube disabled the video I wanted, so I had to use a pinch hitter that I think is even better.

I love Sesame Street. Is it me, though or is Spin Doctors dude noticeably flat from about the two minute mark on? Methinks the producer left the studio halfway through and said, "Whatever. This song ain’t no Furry Happy Monsters. I’m outta here."

Dammit, some of the videos linked there don’t play anymore. Here’s the REM one. The Stevie Wonder clip linked above is well worth a view too.

I remember one night in a chatty cathy, we just went through all of the Monsterpiece theatre clips. That was such a great night.

and for Furry Happy monsters, that bass guy was such a jerk. Making those happy furry monsters into sobbing crying monsters at his whim. (go Flyers?)

Making stuff up since real Leafs news is far too depressing

Just got a huge chunk of an article about the Leafs done. If Alec Brownscombe is reading the comments it’s uh… been done for weeks. Gotta go.

I hate you. Of course that has nothing to do with my own article still needing significant work. Because that’s been done for weeks too.

HAHAHAH

MINE IS DONE BITCHES! It was hard to pour out 5000 words of written gold through the internet but I think that it made it.

Up to 2,500 words. Time to trim it down to around 1,750 before adding 10% more funny. That’s tomorrow’s job.

I feel like I’ve gone through some sort of humour removal service lately and am devoid of “the funny” – 2900 words and maybe one punch-line. My headline is all sorts of funny though, a natural hat-trick if you will.

I had to pass. Zero time to do a real credible job of anything, though it seems like the deadlines have stretched somewhat if all of you are still writing….

I’m sad that Jeremy Williams got shat upon. He may not have had many (and Devereaux inflated that stat, thanks for the 9th pick!), but for all the math, there was one thing out:

How to create a 41-goal scorer. Start Williams with the Marlies. Have him play one game. Call him up, let him play one game. Repeat for 41GP on each team. Williams never fails to score the first game he’s called up. It’s ridiculous.

by Ryan Classic on Jul 19, 2009 3:25 AM EDT reply actions

It’s a great plan, but he’d likely score 41 goals for 29 teams as he’s no longer waiver exempt.

I wonder what the record is for most teams played with in a season?

Ask Dany Heatley at the end of this one.

I think the record is three, but I can’t think of who. I don’t think it’s Sillinger. He’s played for 12 teams (a record), and a full season with only three of them. Doug Janik played for four teams last year, but two were AHL and two NHL. JJ Daigneault played for Montreal, St. Louis, and Pittsburgh in 1995-96. That’s all I can find.

I love crazy stats. Lupul being traded for Pronger twice is also hilariously awesome.

by Ryan Classic on Jul 19, 2009 2:59 PM EDT up reply actions

Dave McLwain played for three teams one season (Islanders, Leafs, Sabres) as did Jeff Brown (Hurricanes, Leafs, Caps). I don’t know if a player ever skated for four clubs in a single season.

Gary “Suitcase” Smtih played for 7 teams, albeit as the league expanded from 12 to 21 teams…
