Except that they compromised historical accuracy for the sake of rhyming.
Russia did not have a queen, they had a Tsarina or Czarina.
Much tougher to rhyme with.

A few of them used to come over when I was a grade schooler/ early teenager. Oma Yup (his career was caretaker for a voetball stadium, and on the way home, he’d stop by the Heineken brewery and grab a fresh 6-pack) and a couple others. It’s been a while, but my brother is going over with his wife (her family is from Denmark) and I’ll have to convince him to get me a jersey.
My dad is from Gronigen and my mom from Drente, they came over in ’49 and ’52 or so and married here.

my oma is from gronigen, she married my grandfather after WW2…. her sisters and brothers would often visit, one of my mom’s cousins would come quite often until her husband was killed in a work accident. Her daughter has since comitted suicide, it’s a tragic story. But my aunt and uncle have gone over a few times – before and after the accident – so when I go I’ll have someone to stay with and take us around.

Almost everyone I’ve ever talked to about it, particularly those who travel lots, say that visiting the Netherlands was the most welcoming, hospitable and enjoyable of all their trips. Especially if you have relations or friends who can guide you to the best parts. There are many things about growing up Dutch-Canuck that I would jettison, but the social enjoyment and the love of hospitality and food aren’t included.

Agree with you about the jerseys. The Bruins with the big bear head is one of the rare cool third jerseys. Also, I remember when the Northstars were in the leaugue and at the time I thought their jerseys were awful, mostly because of the yellow and green.

The best jerseys are the Red Wings, Devils, Blackhawks, and of course, the Maple Leafs. The Buffalo Sabres original jerseys aren’t bad either. And I have a white Nordiques home jersey with #17 Clark on the back.

top 5

I have a thing for jerseys other people think are ugly. For example, one my favourites is the Canuck’s flying V. Yes, I know…

1. Blackhawks (red) Most intricate design, but simplest colour scheme
2. Leafs (blue, either 80s or 1933 crest) Simple, classic.
3. Habs (red) Have to admit it is classic. I never liked the white ones though.
4. Whalers (81-82 or 89-90, green, whale, no harpoon)
5. Flying V (orange) I really like orange. (I also kind of liked the red and orange Pavel Bure era ones).

I also like the yellow Canada 1920 (Winnipeg Falcons) and of course the 1972 series (Canada and Russia). I agree with the original like that Sweden’s is solid, but I wouldn’t call it a favourite.

"It’s still a surreal feeling for me when I think of being drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs. It’s an unbelievable feeling, and it’s a great honour to play for your hometown, particularly when they have as much class and history as the Leafs do."
Blacker admits that it will be a little goosebump inducing the first time he gets on the ice at the Air Canada Centre.

"Yeah I mean, I remember my first game their as a fan. I think we beat Florida 4-3 in overtime that night. I mean, as a young kid who plays hockey, you’re sitting there thinking to yourself how great it would if you could someday play here as a member of the Maple Leafs."

Surprise, surprise
According to 640am in Toronto, the Reisdorf bid was 100% approved, the Balsillie was 100% declined and the Ice Edge Holdings bid was ruled incomplete in reference to the Phoenix Coyotes.
