It doesn’t have enough hockey news (try none at all) but it’s a decent rag and for free Madden you can’t reallly go wrong.

It’s more like free SI for buying Madden.
Pension Plan Puppets: A Toronto Maple Leafs blog and a group therapy session.
I had a couple friends who worked at EA in BC so I got NHL 09 and Madden 09 for the employee price (at cost) of $20 each. Unfortunately they both got let go during the height of the economic crisis. I used to play Madden all the time but with how good NHL 09 was I don’t think Madden got more than a couple plays.
A Nation of Masochists The waiting is the hardest part but the truculence helps.
I got Sports Illustrated for free for three years on the internet.

A downside could be not getting it.
I signed up for one of those SI promos before. I believe it was an NFL team jacket. All I had to do was send in their form and stick on the team I wanted and they would send me a jacket and my mags.
Well, I got the magazines but never got the jacket. I never did call to complain about it because I didn’t care to wear a jacket that said Sports Illustrated on it anyway.
It also kind of sickens me that SI has about the same amount of hockey coverage as they do horse racing. They didn’t even have the Stanley Cup champs on the cover during the year I subscribed. Matter of fact, I don’t even recall it being mentioned. Though is anybody really surprised?

Its a pretty
good course, problem was it rained like cats and dogs for 3 days straight before we went so they wouldn’t let us take the carts on it on the grounds that the grounds are too wet and soft… and the way we played was REAL hot and humid… lugging around a set of clubs, even on the trolleys is exhausting when it sinks into the ground and you’re dragging it through very sloshy grounds… worst part was, their drinks cart couldn’t do the rounds because they couldn’t veer off the paved paths (of which there was little) so we didn’t run into it until the 15th or 16th hole and we were all dead by that point

yea
and they had overbooked that day or something too because they had to cancel all their appointments for 3 days before hand so they were really rushing us through the course, the marshall warned us like twice even though our group of 4 was like blitzing through the course and when we stopped for lunch after the first 9 they told us to eat while playing and not stop…
was not too impressed…
I would say the course is good but I guess we ended up playing under very bad circumstances

I hate cart path only, it was like the when I played two weeks ago.
I never have that problem with the drink carts at the Wells, since my brother is an employee and ensures the girls come to us at least every 3 holes. They know where to make the money.
And the group behind us was VERY VERY rude… I mean really rude…they were nipping on our heels the whole time, we had to duck more then a few times because they were hitting their shots right over our heads, and they TWICE accused of picking up their balls when they couldn’t find them, which we never did
for fuck’s sake we even offered to let them play through but they refused… morons
they were dressed like real douche bags too, a bunch of early 30 somethings all wearing expensive polos, shades and ball caps, with bloody golfing gloves and overpriced sets of clubs

The Beatles are my second favourite band, don’t get me wrong. But McCartney and Harrison are twice the song-writers that he is.
Or maybe it’s my hate of people always over-valuing something. I can’t stand Wonderwall because I feel like there are better options out there.
I would agree that I think McCartney is/was the better song writer as evidence by Wings being absolutely fantastic. Harrison though, I give the edge to Lennon. Why does Ringo Starr get no love?

Harrison
has produced mountains of crap. His best songwriting was done when in tandem with someone (like his 80s stuff with Jeff Lynne.) In addition, he’s the only one of the three to have been sued for copyright infringement. Neither here nor there, but makes you wonder where all his good ideas come from.
McCartney has also produced mountains of crap. His 80s output is unbearable. his stuff with the Beatles is great, don’t get me wrong, but he’s not nearly as infallible as you’re making him out to be.
Lennon also produced a lot of crap. He also wrote Imagine, Starting Over, Mother (my personal fav,) Cold Turkey, Instant Karma!, Jealous Guy, Grow Old With Me (Great wedding song…)
It’s NEVER a matter of who’s better. It’s more of an argument along the lines of which way you prefer your toilet paper roll to pull. Over the top, or under neath?
Personal preference.

has some good stuff. Band On the Run is a great tune. and Mull of Kintyre is kinda fun. Plus, Live and Let Die…
What I like about Wings was that, in hindsight, it shows that McCartney really was the driving force behind the Beatles as a band. He doesn’t get a lot of credit for keeping them together as long as he did after the White album.

Last time I was there, we stayed at the Wynn. I was so drunk, I went to the Frontier Casino, behind the Wynn, for some cheap blackjack, without telling anyone. I started playing $5 blackjack. Then one of the guys, whom I didn’t know really well, texted me, b/c everyone was looking for me. He thought I was at the “front” of the Wynn, instead of the Frontier. He was drunk too.
He found me. But in his drunkenness, didn’t tell anyone that he found. So we played blackjack until 7am, with some Russian dude at the table, who we dubbed “Russian Stan.” He kept saying “WE BE WIN! YOU BE LOSE, MONEY!!” Finally, the dealer cut us off, as well as the bar, and we got a comped free breakfast.
Around 8am, my brother and friends found us drinking beer at the Frontier buffet with Russian Stan.

So I'm reading the PPP response to Second City's questions on their site
I got a load of this gem of a comment by Hawks61:
Let’s calm down now…
…you knew PPP there could possibly be a Hawks fan from Ottawa. LOL! Just a little fun at the Leafs expence, and trust me the Hawks (until recently) have had nothing to boast about.
P.S. I did know the Leafs won in 2000 but c’mon 1962-2000 without winning a division title is pretty bad considering that it seemed to only take a record barely above .500 to win the Norris back in the late 80’s. To your defence though the Leafs did have Ballard as an owner and as a Hawks fan I definitely know what it feels like to have your franchise ran buy a frugal, maniacal, and heartless bastard.
In any event, why trash the 67’s though? C’mon even a Torontonian couldn’t hate Kilrea and the boys back in 1999 which did provide one memorable moment for all hockey fans let alone those from Ottawa.
Not to mention I also hated the bandwagoner Sens fans that year after year kept boasting how their team was "SO TALENTED" yet failed year after year it seemed like to get out of the first round. For some reason or another they have been quiet since about December of last year.
"Holy crip!! He's a CRAPPLE!!!"
what the hell just happened?

well even though I didn't mean to copy and paste nething and rather just reading i'll also show this fools original comment
As a native from Ottawa I have to admit it makes me laugh a little that it would make you squirm if either the Hawks or Sens would actually capture the Stanley Cup.
Once again "the nation" of Torontonians that are still (for some unknown reason) captivated by "the passion that unites us all" bring up their only triumphant playoff experiences that they eliminated the much-more talented Senators. Good for you, but you forget to mention that the Laffs never won the series after bouncing their provincial rivals now did you? Don’t think the Sens or any professional hockey team of any era ever put up a measly 6 shots in an elimination game either?
One of the biggest reasons why 1961 is held quietly for Hawks fans can point out that since the 1967 expansion the Hawks have won 9 division titles, 3 conference titles, a President’s trophy, and 3 Stanley Cup Finals appearances which is 3 more than the Leafs have appeared in the same time frame. In fact the Leafs haven’t won a division title since 1962, the year Bill Barilko’s body was found-Pathetic! Even Ottawa can say they have won a President’s trophy, a division title (4 to be exact), and a Stanley Cup appearance.
Love the comparison on James Mirtle’s article likening Kane’s cab excursion to the one Boyton and Bell went on in 1999, but failed to mention that the 67’s won the Memorial Cup that season as well. Must have forgotten that part right?
Face it Burke is another version of Harold Ballard, runs his mouth only either end up putting his foot in it or making a laughing stock of himself and the organization. The both sound suspicously similar don’t they?
The Leafs are the Leafs and no matter how bad things can get in Chicago and for Hawks fans it’s always nice to know that it always could be worse-they could be the Leafs!
"Holy crip!! He's a CRAPPLE!!!"
