Chelios Asks Leafs For A Job
...but not an office job. No, Chelios wants to continue his playing career, and he is inquiring the Leafs if there is a spot for him on their roster, according to Hockeyexpressen.se. While the Leafs loved signing old farts in the past, I think that times have changed under Brian Burke. The biggest hindrance to Chelios' chances of signing in Toronto is the fact that the Leafs have a plethora of defencemen as it is, as they loaded up the back end this summer. I can't see Ian White sitting in the press box while Chelios plays. Not gonna happen.
Chelios is getting desperate, and while I admire his drive, it looks more and more like his career as a player is over.

Poor Chelios is desperate. If he’d want to be an assistant coach I’d jump at it but to play? That would be insane.

Something along these lines.
But considering Cheli’s looked like an old woman for the better part of ten years now, it probably doesn’t matter.
