Hooray for more region-only blackouts so TSN can air BOWLING.
Can it before I drive this truculence through your faceulence and put you in an ambulance.

You know,
I told my wife she was the reason that I was willing to move to Ontario….. but really…..
'But I don't want to go among mad people' Alice remarked.
'Oh, you can't help that' said the Cat 'we're all mad here'.
Depends on which part of Ontario you live in.
I get shafted with the f***ing sens.
I’d need a lobotomy to enjoy the sens, and even then if they don’t take enough out Id…. GO Flyers!

I feel your pain brother… oh how I feel your pain!
Being a Leaf fan here requires one to be sufficiently lubricated... and truculent!

The guy they had with him on A Channel (think his name was Gord Wilson) made me want to throw a brick at my TV.

Gord Wilson is TSN, but I know the guy you are talking about. The worst colour commentator ever… I wouldn’t let him colour a beer league game

Gord Miller is TSN. Gord Wilson makes you want to barf more than Gord Miller does (which is quite an accomplishment actually).

Same here
According to some idiot satellite tv executive, Kingston is Sens territory. How can that be when Doug Gilmour is from here!?

re: blackouts
All of TSN’s games are nationally covered so they should not be blacked out. (And they’re all on TSN and not TSN2…) ;)
CBC plays games depending on your region. This year, when the Leafs are playing on Saturday (the vast majority of Saturdays but there are exceptions), they are always 7 pm starts. If you are unfortunate enough not to get it on your TV, go to cbc.ca to watch it online.
Leafs TV games are never blacked out ;) All you have to do is figure out how to get Leafs TV (if you’re in Ontario you should be able to…if not, I’m not sure how you’ll get it)
Sportsnet is the big blackout culprit. If you’re not in the Leafs region, you can’t get these without getting Centre Ice (and for some even that doesn’t work…)
Truculence...starting 10/1/09
Yeah, my slandering of TSN was a rash generalisation. A truculent generalisation.

TSN used to...
They used to have a national TV package, and then also had an additional group of games that were “Leafs Region Only”…so maybe those are the ‘blackouts’ that you remember?
I know this because I went to Queen’s and Leafs region extends only to Belleville. It was terrible to not have those games at home.

I’m going to Queen’s starting in september. There;s some online leafs TV package I’m looking at.
A Nation of Masochists I can't believe "Stay Truculent!!!1" replaced goodbye.
Used to...
…but no longer, all TSN games became national starting last season :)
Truculence...starting 10/1/09
They were ripping the Leafs’ national schedule coverage on the radio here today (Vancouver). I’m used to hearing it from the Ottawa fans, but this was the actual show hosts and they. were. pissed. I’ve never heard so much anger about having a game starting in the afternoon so it could be on national television.

I don’t know why they complain. If you don’t want to watch the Leafs, wait until 7 pm local time before turning on the TV. No one says you have to watch it at 4 pm :)
Truculence...starting 10/1/09
It’s a complaint about favouritism, which is completely legit. Bang for buck the Leafs make the most sense, but other markets take it personally. I think people in Ottawa have a much better argument than in Vancouver. I was shocked. Pratt and Taylor also dropped a “but nobody in this market cares about a Calgary and Edmonton game.” Talk about not knowing your market, there are a ton of Flames fans here, and a good friend is an Oilers fan.
Nucks Misconduct has an interview up from the same show with a reporter in Winnipeg blasting Cody Hodgson. It was an interesting show today.

I can’t fault the networks for wanting to put a game on that gives them higher ratings.
'But I don't want to go among mad people' Alice remarked.
'Oh, you can't help that' said the Cat 'we're all mad here'.
Neither can I. Truth is there’s Leaf fans in all kinds of markets. You’ve got Wrap Around Curl out in WA, there’s a bunch here in BC. My high school was half and half Ottawa and Toronto fans. I went to a Leafs-Sharks game and there were a lot of Toronto jerseys in the crowd. That all said, can you fault fans of less popular teams for wanting to see more of their favourite clubs? I can’t.
Sidebar, Vancouver bars should actually get HD boxes instead of stretching SD on their fancy TVs before the bar owners can be allowed to complain.

I don’t blame them for whining like babies but at least they should recognize why an 80 year old franchise with a national following gets preference.

Hey Arch, can you do something about the whole sportsnet blackout thing?
I mean, if they want to black it out, that’s fine, but at least provide a feed to Center Ice for’s sake
I had Leafs TV and watch all of TSN and CBC’s games(a few of those were blacked out, but Online I go) but to get the sportsnet games I had to get Center Ice, but 75% of the time I did not get the feed.
Waste of money…

I know that if you subscribe to Rogers Cable you get free “time-shifting” which gives you the feed for all the sportsnet channels.

You can have the channels, but during blackout periods it comes up with a blank screen that says programming is not available in your region at this time.
'But I don't want to go among mad people' Alice remarked.
'Oh, you can't help that' said the Cat 'we're all mad here'.
Which is ridiculous...
…because MLB games are not blacked out this way. Neither were NBA games when sportsnet could play them (I think they only play Raptors games these days)…
Truculence...starting 10/1/09

BTW Canucks fans are just pissy because the only legacy they have left on the NHL is Having the worst God awful jersey’s of all time.
That’s a little bit brash. The locals here openly admit to how awful those jerseys were. Trust me, they’re more pissed at Messier for all kinds of reasons than they are about uniforms.
