He wasn’t much of a prospect anymore, but obviously, jumping to the NCAA wasn’t a great move for him. Though i wonder how much more trouble he would have got into in Juniors.

I’m surprised the cavalry hasn’t jumped in yet declaring him a graduate of the School of Truculence.

Personally, I think Burke will sign him tomorrow. “Fuck school, Matt, come play with the Marlies. Plus, there is no comparison between NoDak women and T.O. girls……..”

I’m from Ottawa, but personally, T.O. girls > Ottawa. I’m still on the fence regarding the BC folk.

Wait, hockey? The guy sounds like a lunkhead, but at least drinking would be legal for him in Ontario. That’d help with playing for the Marlies in front of all 1,500 people.

A Graduate?

This guy’s getting his Master’s.

I would guess that that is the end of the line for him unless he is willing to go to the ECHL or CHL (Central Hockey League) or something along those lines.

You don’t think he could fill the void left by Mark Bell?

As in, someone else needs to step up and make $2M playing for the Marlies?

Well

That’s disappointing.

But I applaud what the program did… let’s hope Frattin gets the message that drinking and driving will not be tolerated.

While the DUI is pretty bad

This is more a case of horrible judgement than horrible person.

The thing he got arrested for and a year’s probation last month was basically a couple of young guys being idiots while drunk at their own house. The fact that they were throwing stuff in the street is asinine, but I know a lot of guys that have done similar crap at that age.

I think a year’s probation was kinda hefty for it but whatever.

As for the DUI – he wouldn’t be the first hockey player to be caught driving drunk. Craig MacTavish spent a year in jail for killing a woman while driving drunk – that didn’t ruin him in the eyes of hockey people.

Mark Bell was booted from the Leafs for playing like crap – not because he served a year in prison.

Really I don’t think this should completely derail the kid’s career – but if he misses a year of development he could definitely be SOL down the line.

He may end up playing in Europe or as a walk on with an AHL club later this year… who knows.

- Sir Winston Churchill

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the Leafs.

yeah, im willing to chalk up the first incident as “boys will be fucking stupid boys” but that combined with the DUI impacts on the school, and thats probably why he got the boot. He had his chance and he blew it.
He’ll probably come back to hockey in some way shape or form, but its gonna be a detour for sure

People who drink and drive are scum. Its not a joke, its not to be treated in the "aw schucks" manner that so many in the hockey fraternity seem to deal with it…Cut this guy and never look back.

If I could rec this a million times I would.

Guilty and you don’t know fun until you’ve thrown dishes 30 feet in the air and watched them smash.
