Finally...Friday

The last day of the week has arrived.  I love how the unlimited potential of my weekends ultimately winds up looking something like the pic below.

Japanesecat3601_medium

Immediately after this shot, the cat lit me up on COD 4

At least it did, before my x-box finally died.  Now it's more of an adventure.  Did you know, when you go outside, there's stuff to do?  Crazy, right?  If you find yourself at home with a non-responsive game console, try going outside.   I did.  To put my x-box in the mail to ship it off to get fixed that is.  Now, I wait...

Not a fan of the Xbox

I know probably going to get some e-rage for this, but the PS3 provides a significantly better gaming experience. I would however like to I assure you I am not advocating for PS3 as a fanbooy or an anti-360 postion, without good reason. I have frolicked in both next-gen consol fields and one left me quite unsatisfied.

I started out with a 360 (PS3s launch price was completely ridiculous), and after it dies on me 3 times (in the span of a year and a half) and scratched the sh!t out of many of my games, to the point where they are no longer playable was the first thing that soured me. Next was the attrocious customer service they provide. The warrenty the provide is crap, its 3 months or 6 months or whatever it is and not a single day more, not even when one of your consoles breaks and they send in a new one. If your comsole breaks at 5months and 29 days, you’re SOL for any protection when that relpacement comes unless you pump out extra cash for more warrenty. As for the supposed ‘disc replacement program’, at the time it consisted of approx 10 games, none of which have sold more than 10 copies to people above the age of 7. Not to mention the thousands of screen freezes and non-functional DLC for GH.

So after these schennanagins (see what I did there), I turned to the PS3. I have had no problems with the PS3 and have had it for over a year. I think it has frozen on me once, that’s about it. The free online is a blessing on my credit card. The games for 360/PS3 are always very close in terms of visual/processing performance ,the difference there IMO are slim at best. I did prefer the Xbox’s HUD when you powered up (the old one, not the new Wii rip off garbo!) and prefer their messaging system over Sonys. PSHome is a total and complete waste of time for me. But overall, the performance and durability of the PS3 has made me loose a lot of faith in big M.

Side note: Xbox 360 Failure rate of 54%!!!!! That’s got to be against some kind of law.

i guess this is prolly CC stuff, but yeah I’m thinking about picking up a PS3 Slim for $300 in the next couple months… I can use my roommates PS3 for NHL 10 this year, but after I graduate I think I’ll cry if I’m stuck in a house with only NHK2K9 for Wii… to show you what kind of people made this game, it came with Kubina wearing ‘13’ :S

I really really don’t want the Sharks to get Heatley. I will be obliged to hate them, and they will DEFINITELY not win the cup with the attitude problems they already have, and him added to it.

If the Leafs have $4 mill in cap space

as they keep pretending (only because of bonus moneys)…

Then if they want to bring on Marleau they’ll have to do something like the following:

To Leafs – Marleau. Leafs then have $521,668 (without worrying about bonuses) in cap space, and a 22 man NHL roster.

To Sharks – Stajan and Van Ryn. Sharks then have $1.3 mill in cap room and 20 players on their NHL roster.

by Steve@Leafs.HockeyAnalysis.com on Aug 21, 2009 1:24 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I wouldn’t mind Marleau at all, but the size of his contact is scary. If that fact coupled with it being a contract year can reduce the asking price, I’m for it

5 out of his last 6 seasons he’s hovered close to 30 goals (playing with Thornton and the Richard trophy winning Cheechoo helps a bit too though).

So yea, for the right price I could deal. Still would rather Kessle though. Wishful thinking I know, but hey, it was a clause in my contract when I signed with the Leafs and I’m exercising it!

by Lucid09 on Aug 21, 2009 11:39 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

marleau?

forgive me for saying this, but he is NOT the A1 centre we all want. He’s never topped 90 points, and if he couldnt’ do it in his 20s i don’t see him doing it in his 30s.

Ron Wilson didn’t exactly mesh with him, and let’s not forget he’s only two seasons removed from a (non-injury-ravaged) season with under 50 pts. 19 goals from a $6.3 million No. 1 centre?

We need a star on the way up. Not the way down. None are available, so let’s wait and see if we’ve got one in the system.

I can’t believe that’s the best his agent could come up with for him to say. “Options”? You had options – Stay in Ottawa or go to Edmonton.

Varlamov is basically in the same position as Gustavsson, Anisimov is the definition of a stretch, and then Leino and Hodgson might not even make the team.

The only way Monster has a chance at the Calder

is if he starts the majority of the games for the Leafs this year.

The Hockey News probably doesn’t project him as a starter… and I forget how many games a Goalie needs to play in to be considered a Rookie. Even if he reaches the minimum, he would need to play(and win) a lot more to be considered.

I do hope he does play well enough to supplant Toskala(no offense meant, but 24 year orld 6’3" vs a 31 year old 5’7")

For the Monster to get into the Calder mix, I think Toskala needs to have some groin injury concerns again, and Gustavsson pulls a Steve Mason.
