what JFJ is also learning is that its hard to sign shitty contracts and hand out No movement clauses that can cripple a franchise in dire need of a rebuild when no one in their right mind will offer you a GM gig

Doesn't JFJ realize
that the only reason the Leafs are “not trying to win” is because he left the franchise in a position where it was impossible to do so?

Keep in mind, Burke has defended JFJ every chance he got. I’ve even been told that during the whole twitter thing, Burke was most upset about the insults at JFJ.
Nice payback.

So…. JFJ you were TRYING to win? I could go on an eloquent rant on how pathetic of a GM you were and you managed to almost single-handedly do to us in less than three years that it took Mike Milbury a decade to do in Long Island – destroy our franchise.
But I think I will sum it up with a short but poignant statement

Interesting article.
Well, excerpt from a book really, but still. Doesn’t sound like ol’ Burkie’s gonna bend or break under the pressure of the Toronto spotlight anytime soon, though. Knock on wood, ladies and gentleman.

Let's Recap
A GM that got a FIVE year deal is complaining about not having time to implement his strategy? And on top of that he took a Stanley Cup contender and turned it into a lottery team!
Yeah John, I pity you.

But he never got that magical extension that he apparently needed in order to do his job.

perhaps
he needed the extension as he was waiting for his testicles to drop?
