lots of open jobs and battles. Looking to it all unfolding. Who survives to October 1st?

Touche. I go to both, want to have all my bases covered. lol I’m still waiting for that defenceman trade that everyone was talking about last night. lol
The Official Site is good for news.

They’re a bit slow. I use that and this, TSN, Yahoo Sports, and the occasional visit to HFboards to get my rumour tank filled.
Twitter’s amazing for breaking news too.

Yup
And now we can track the cuts easily.

I’ll remember that for next year ;)

On top of so much else it depends on whether Kessel comes and what goes out for him.

The forwards with waiver exemptions (Hanson, Bozak, Stalberg) will likely start with the Marlies.

heh
I hadn’t noticed!
It’s automatic so let’s see if I can fix it.

Figured it out
I think…Van Ryn ended the year on IR so he’s not a ‘current’ player hence the lack of player page.

Also, you should have left a blank spot for Stempniak… we all would have understood

The only clear cut place is in net:
Leafs: Toskala, Gustavsson
Marlies: MacDonald, Reimer
Royals: Erickson, Engelage

Hey PPP, just an FYI the formatting on the mobile view is brutal…
Can’t wait for everything to unfold. Seems like we’ve got a few kids who are gonna make decisions tough on Burke and Wilson.
I don’t think the waiver issue is going to matter if the kid can play. Burke has already said that he has no problem burying salary in the minors and I’m inclined to believe him.

I don’t know about everyone else, but the site is ridiculously slow loading right now even from my PC.
Other sites, NP.

I’m on a ship with satellite internet – it’s always slow for me. But better than nothing.

Well, hopefully you are back in port for the start of the hockey season!
If not, can you get games at all out there?

Yeah, luckily we have Bell ExpressVu as well via sattelite (of course, hehe). I won’t miss too much unless I’m working.

Waivers
If they show that they are good enough then they’ll be up just like Schenn was last year.
But I think Burke could use it as a way to give the kids some serious minutes with the Marlies while he tries to move players. Then again, the guys that would get moved can’t be worth much.

And somewhere, at this very moment, Phil Oreskovic is looking at the depth chart for Defence, then the depth chart for Forwards, back to Defence…and slowly sighs, cursing his chidlhood decision to play D ;)

He can play whatever position he damn well wants to, I don’t see Phil Oreskovic ever switching to “offence”.

too bad really
I really liked what I saw from oreskovic last year.
A Leafs fan stuck in western Canada.
He’s a tough hombre, but I fear he’s too one-dimensional to break the top-6 of the Leafs. Same thing with Frogren. Both players should make it over XLB, but he’s not going to be benched as a Burke acquisition.
Supporter of the Sergei Berezin "Give and Go" - You give me puck, then you go to hell
I like him as the kind of guy who’ll probably never nail down a full-time NHL job, but who’s capable of playing 20-odd games a year as an injury call-up. He’s got good size, a good work ethic and he’ll never embarrass himself.
"We can categorically state that we have not released man-eating badgers into Iraq"

I saw XLB and he wasn’t that much of a liabilty live as I expected. Although the viking deserves a chance

Probably in some places
But I’m pretty sure Burke and Wilson talk about pretty much every decision together. They’re like BFF’s.

The Globe and Sun are reporting the Leafs are down to 34 players in camp with Deveaux, Ondrus, Hamiltion and Foster having to clear waivers before they join the Marlies.
Meanwhile, Leaf fans everywhere are on the edge of their seats wondering about the fate of Tim Brent.

Apparently Oreskovic, Reimer and Slaney were also sent to the Marlies and Jesse Blacker went to the ECHL (can’t find an official source on these cuts).

Thanks!
Will update them. They are headed to Scotland this week.

The first three were in the first round of cuts but the Blacker news is new to me.

Ian White's a poor man's Gary Roberts
He’s tough, he works hard, he’s a character guy and he’s got great hands to boot. He’s a middle 6 forward for sure. If he was 4 inches taller, he’d be C-worthy.
He’s going to end up the captain of the new Hamilton Fincups and bite us on the ass eight times a year.
Exuding truculence since 1963.
22 Forwards Left in Camp
Brent, Devane, Rosehill and Kurtz, they’ll all go down to the Marlies in the next round of cuts. Kadri likely goes back to London.. that leaves 17 forwards. Wilson says he’s starting with 13 forwards, so that leaves 4 more forwards to be cut.
Who is still on the outside? Discuss.
(Right now, I think it’s Allison, Stalberg, Tlusty and the fourth is one of Hanson/Mitchell/Mayers)

Wilson told the media that Mayers made the team.

Sorry, here’s the quote from Wilson on Mayers:
“Jamal doesn’t need to prove anything,” Wilson said. “We want to build a really good grind line and he’s capable of doing that and killing penalties. He’s in great shape and works hard in practice. You can’t ever have enough of those guys.”

It’ll be Bozak I think.

We need to start a pool – see how many of the 13 forwards you can get right (not including Kessel who’s on the IR).

Poni, Stajan, Blake, Grabovski, Hagman, Kulemin, Mitchell, Wallin, Stempniak, Primeau, Mayers, Orr and (cough, cough) Allison.
The kids all go for seasoning.
