His best days were in Edmonton but I liked him when he was in Toronto even though they had a crappy team at the time. There’s a good photo set here of Smith in the Blue and White courtesy Vintage Leafs.

In hindsight, Jason Smith, along with Alyn McCauley and Steve Sullivan, was quite the pickup for a player who didn’t even want to remain in Toronto in Doug Gilmour.

Man
didn’t he have another year on his contract with the Sens? I was sad to see him sign with them.
Anyways, he was a fearless leader, everyone gives Pronger credit for the Oilers’ great run, but Smith was beaten, bruise and bloodied those playoffs and kept on going.

I always liked Jason Smith and was real disappointed when the Leafs let him go. Certainly in Edmonton especially he became the heart and soul leader I thought he would be in a Leaf uniform.

He’s still faster than Allison
