Remember last year...
when he was sucking and then his dad came over from Europe and was like “dude. Seriously. Chill out” and then he tore it up in the AHL? We need Mr. Tlusty!

He fanned on a penalty shot but it got through. I hope it gives him some confidence. But I think he starts with the Marlies.

Sadly, he was mostly invisible. Even his goal, off a penalty shot, was soft.

I’m impatient for Bozak and Stalberg already. I can wait for Kadri cause I know he’ll be along eventually.
At this point, if Tlusty turns into an everyday NHL player by 2011 I’ll consider it a bonus.

Wow, how suprising- Cox post titled Leafs Have Major Weaknesses five games into preseason. Very thin writing. Not surprised at all, Cox………
Comment I thought was a joke-
As I have said before let The Star, its writers and the fans take over the ownership and management of the Leafs. That way we would always have a winning team since they will have plethora of experts to run the team. If not that, then let the Leafs appoint Damien Cox as efficiency expert and we should at least a Stanley Cup contender. And,best of all, we will get wonderful reprots of the teams progress.

The best part is, same paper, same day, McGran article opener-

If I could talk to McGran I’d ask him if by ‘some of his rookies’ he means that Wilson has all but admitted that Bozak is going to make the team because otherwise he has been saying that the vets are keeping the kids out.
Pension Plan Puppets: A Toronto Maple Leafs blog and a group therapy session.
We, and Kevin, know that the chances are slim. But it’s fair to say that Wilson HAS been suitably impressed with no few major disappointments.

Apparently so. I didn’t catch the game until mid-3rd period, but even then, the Leafs looked real sluggish and non-responsive. Fatigue clearly played a factor it looks like, especially it was more of a mishmash lineup tonight. No chemistry (Frogren hasn’t played in quite some time, so understandably you have to get used to his tendencies) and no energy equals below average play.
Supporter of the Sergei Berezin "Give and Go" - You give me puck, then you go to hell
They seem to get in a ton of games in preseason and spend less time practising. Day off tomorrow anf then 3 days in a row on the weekend. I think the atrition of all the games is helping Wilson perceive how the kids would take the grind.

Not the most ideal schedule, but it does accelerate the adjustment period of the rookies and second year players on what the season grind will feel like later. Certainly, it’ll help Wilson sift through the weak from the strong.
Supporter of the Sergei Berezin "Give and Go" - You give me puck, then you go to hell
yeah, but it will start causing injuries…moreso by the weekend. 3 out already (nothing serious except MVR which has the syndrome named after himself)

It’s all about conditioning, which is what Wilson and the coaching staff has emphasized, so I’m sure they don’t mind it as much. Even though 9 games in 11 days is utterly ridiculous even for a taskmaster like Wilson. I do fear about burnout when the season starts, so I wonder if we actually see the guys who made the team already play together all that much in the remaining preseason games.

Wilson Post
Nothing Spectacular
- Buffalo backed off a little at the end
- Mitchell was our best forward. Played all 3 forward positions. Good spark, played the body, had easily his best game.
- Joey Mac has played very well. Jonas will get a couple periods on the weekend.
- (on re-uniting ‘The Kid Line’) I was looking for some offence. They’ve slowed down quite a bit. They’re just trying to survive camp, let alone make the team. They’ve been in 4 to 6 games each, thats a lot to ask.
- I’d like to have some more practice time to work on special teams, especially the powerplay. Get back to working on a stronger forecheck, which we stressed earlier.
- Brian and I will sit down on Saturday or Sunday and make some decisions. Can only go up North with our roster. 7 or 8 people really need to be discussed. We have injury issues with Van Ryn and Finger an Mayers.
- We werent as strong on the back end tonight, (lineup wise) but with 5 games on 6 nights, you can’t be killing people.

… isn’t shared by the younger players. We need their enthusiasm! I found that game deflating. I thought we had two noteworthy forwards and a bunch of AHLers. Even OLAS seemed half-interested.
Having said that, Tyler Bozak is making this team. Size be damned he has the hands and head of a star player, and never ever takes a shift off. I’m in love with that kid.

The only hesitation I have with Bozak making the jump is what an 82 game sched. would do to him. I’d rather he played 50-60 with some press box time or even conditioning stints. Other than that, I’m all for it.

He’s also coming off a knee injury, which by all accounts, Bozak looks fine out there. But he still does get overpowered at times. If we go by Schenn’s personal account, he said he gained about 10-15 pounds of muscle during the season and Luke was already bigger than Bozak. I don’t want to see him break down in the middle of the season trying to impress and going through the conditioning rigors. If he can do it, all the better. However, starting with the Marlies seems to be prudent.
Supporter of the Sergei Berezin "Give and Go" - You give me puck, then you go to hell
actually now that I think of it: Is he an RFA after this contract? It’s entry level, but he was a UFA, so wouldn’t that make him a UFA after the duration of this contract? (Regardless of where he plays)

haha ignore the doggit spam. Looked it up – I guess you can only retain an RFA year if they go to a non-professional team. My bad.
