Leafs 4: 3 Rangers in OT: Post Game Thread

Well that was an interesting game.  The Leafs looked good in the first but came out of it down a goal.  Then in the second period Bozak to Kessel worked their magic, and Clarke MacArthur scored his 5th goal of the season to set a record as the only Leaf to ever score a goal in each of his first four games on the team.  We were positively flying in the second, but my favourite part was when Armstrong goaded Avery into dropping his gloves for a fight and then skated away, drawing a penalty on Avery.  At that point the only reason the Rangers were even in the game was the magic of Henrik Lundqvist.  Then in the third we got a taste of the bad side of this team.   Avery got the Leafs all riled up when he slashed at Komisarek's ankle.  The Rangers killed that penalty, and the Leafs lost it when Avery stepped on the ice and set up the 3-2 goal for the Rangers.  Avery was at the center of it again when Komisarek poked at him in retaliation behind the Leafs' net, leading to a power play.  The Rangers tied it up and it looked like the Leafs might have let Avery get under their skin enough to let the game slip away.  Despite being granted a power play, the Leafs just held on to get to Over Time.

Over Time it was back to the Leafs team of the first and second period, and when Marc Staal took an interference penalty to put the Leafs on the PP with 2:12 to go, my husband called the win.  Kaberle - Phaneuf - Bozak and Kessel were out there to win it, and win it they did with a snipe on Lundqvist who had been robbing him all night long.

Faced with adversity, our young team on a winning streak dug deep and won it.  I LOVE THIS TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Edited to add:  Oh yeah, and Armstrong broke Gaborik and Drury left injured and didn't come back either.
