7PM ET: SNET-O
Southeast opponent on a Tuesday night? Check. Ex-Leaf Bryan McCabe? Check. Backup goaltender? Check.
The '67 Sound put it succinctly in the comments this morning:
We’ll know this team has turned a corner when we consistently win games like this. It really is looking like a perfect storm of crapitude, isn’t it?
This is a game that last years squadron would come out completely flat for. Failing that they'd take 50 shots on net and lose when Vesa Toskala let in a goal from the red line.
The last time Scott Clemmensen played in the ACC was March 23rd: a Tuesday night. The Leafs took 43 shots on net and scored once to give Clemmer a 0.977 SV% that night.
Per Mirtle the Leafs will start Jean-Sebastien Giguere in net. He had a shaky outing against Philadelphia but as he's a positional goaltender I doubt he forgot where to stand in the crease overnight. The season is early and Giguere is warming up and working through some early season rust. He's taking a lot of starts right now presumably as Francois Allaire looks to work with Jonas Gustavsson on larger issues.
Other roster moves: Carl Gunnarsson and John Mitchell out, Brett Lebda and Mike Zigomanis in [source, source].
Do the Leafs break their skid tonight before heading to Boston? We can only hope: it will mean a lot to people who have watched this team since the lockout if the Leafs can come out firing on all cylinders tonight.
