The Leafs have cut more players. Danny Richmond announced on Twitter this morning he was on waivers and AM640 is saying the Leafs have assigned Christian Hanson, Nazem Kadri, Luca Caputi and Matt Lashoff to the Marlies.
Using Mirtle's cut tracker (which will probably be updated soon) the Leafs roster looks like this currently:
Forwards (13): Colby Armstrong, Fredrik Sjostrom, Clarke MacArthur, Mike Brown, Mike Zigomanis, Colton Orr, Kris Versteeg, Tim Brent, John Mitchell, Nikolai Kulemin, Tyler Bozak, Phil Kessel, Mikhail Grabovski
Defense (8): Luke Schenn, Dion Phaneuf, Jeff Finger, Mike Komisarek, Tomas Kaberle, Francois Beauchemin, Carl Gunnarsson, Brett Lebda
Goal (2): Jonas Gustavsson, Jean-Sebastien Giguere
Some quick notes and observations:
1. Kadri follows the path of Perry, Ryan and Getzlaf. We'll see him around New Year's.
2. I think Hanson and Caputi deserved better. They both impressed during the preseason. It's likely that they're both waiver INELIGIBLE which leads me to point #3...
3. The AM640 cuts don't include Danny Richmond who was told he was waived. There's a chance Jeff Finger has been waived but we don't know yet.
4. Cap hit for the above group? $63M with bonuses.
Note: corrected "waiver eligible" vs "waiver ineligible" and added Lebda's cap hit to the squad because my brain doesn't work. Thanks to Mirtle for noticing.
Note 2: Mike Zigomanis has also been waived. [Update] He's been waived but is still with the team. This makes a roster move easier in the future or something, per Mirtle.
