I think it depends on a lot of things, free agent market, how ready our prospects are in the AHL (i.e Reimer, Rynnas), if Gustavsson develops as the bona fide #1. It’s too early to tell but if he keeps it up, I’d say Burke would be hard pressed not to re-sign him.

Burke also needs to come up with the cashola to re-sign Gunnarsson and Schenn. If Giguere has a great year I’d honestly love to see another year of him and Gustavsson splitting the duties.
And then there’s that whole thing about us signing Thornton as a UFA next summer too. /wishful thinking

I have Giggy in my fantasy pool with some friends, and he is looking like he is going to have a pretty good year. If he bounces back like we all hope and is willing to take a pay cut is it worth it?
I personally would be OK with it, but at the same time we have some pretty crazy goalie depth, and what if Gustavsson has a good year?

I watched the game. Kadri didn’t look great, but the entire Marlies roster wasn’t sharp. Amerikans were the dominant team by far.
Kadri did pick up a random assist in the 3rd though. Crazy 6 minutes of pulling the goalie to try to get some offense.

The Marlies looked like a team of players who weren’t used to playing with each other. Which is understandable, mind you, since there are a whole whack of new players this year and more than a few of them spent most of training camp with the Leafs. The only individual players who looked individually bad were Boyce and Brennan.

A regular shooting motion shouldn’t incur a high stick.
If you take a wrist shot and a guy falls on to your stick, well… fuck ’em.
But a follow through above shoulder height should be a high stick.

went to the game. That had to be one of the most fun games I’ve been to that I can remember. 5 goals, 3 fights and a huge win vs the hated Sens. I’ve never been to a Sens game and I hate them so that was special.
Some observations:
Like we didn’t know it already Kulemin is the beast of all beasts. He cannot be knocked down or knocked away and if he’s going into the corner you’re not ever getting the puck.
The Leafs passing was crisp and fast and I haven’t seen that in eons with us.
Bozak is a lot stronger than I thought. Mike Brown is a lot faster than I thought.
The Sens looked like a pee-wee team out there
Colby Armstrong is great defensively, at least he was tonight.
I think Kaberle sees the ice from the upper bowl the way he makes passes.
Burkie’s dogs are actually pretty good and the price isn’t as horrendous as I expected.
That was awesome domination overall.

The play to keep the puck in the Sens zone on the PP at the end of the first (I think) was amazing.

There were 2 very obvious times he kept the play alive by holding the line, I just worry that over a big enough sample size that will backfire several times.

We call him Brentton-Woods, because he’s MONEY.
Great game, good to see the team looking so fast, young and organized.
No superstars (Kessel might be down the road) but working as a TEAM is great.
Keep squirreling away the points, they’ll be needed when we hit a bump.
