What is wrong with Colton Orr?

Remember that fight? That one against Deryk Engelland of the Penguins. It was the Leafs third game of the season and the Sheriff scored 5 minutes in to put the Leafs up 1-0. In his next shift, Orr squares off against the Pittsburgh enforcer who is not yet well known among the leagues best knuckle-chuckers. The bout is nasty from the start and Orr appears to be getting the best of the 28yr old who was playing in only his 12th NHL game. That is when things take an unexpected turn. A turn that appears to have plagued our beloved barbarian ever since. Check out the fight after the jump, than we'll have a closer look at Colton's season since this scrap.

Totals since Engelland fight:
Games played: 16
TOI: 90:45
PIM: 16 (2 fighting majors, 2 roughing minor, 1 interference minor)
Hits: 16 (No hits in last 3 games)

Orr has gone 7 games without a fight, and has only squared off twice in the 16 games since he got popped by Engelland. That pace over an 82 game schedule would work out to about 10 fights. He had 23 fighting majors last year. I would like to see some advanced stats to determine if Colton is proving to be valuable in other aspects of the game, but we all know what he is being paid to do. There has been a lot of talk recently about giving his spot on the 4th line to someone with added offensive punch for games against teams that don't dress a heavyweight.

The game on Monday is against the Dallas Stars who don't appear to be shy about dropping the gloves. Here is a list of their players who have received fighting majors so far this year:

3 majors: Jamie Benn

2 majors: Krys Barch, Mark Fistric, Brian Sutherby

1 major: Adam Burish, Nicklas Grossman, Brenden Morrow, James Neal, Matt Niskanen, Steve Ott, Brandon Segal

Looks like this is a game Orr should definitely play in. Fistric is the biggest body of that bunch at 6'2", 230lb. Will they fight, or is our Sheriff nursing an injury to his face that is preventing him from getting involved in the fisticuffs with any degree of regularity? No doubt Engelland may have done some damage with that nasty shot to the schnozz. Is Orr still recuperating? Is he of use to this team if he isn't as able or willing to throw down? Are there any other terms for fighting that I did not use in writing this post? These are all questions that need to be asked.
