Peddie was never the problem in Leaf-land
Nicholas J. Cotsonika claims that Peddie's never been a problem as far as the Leafs being able to win is concerned.
He makes some good points about the nature of the Leafs' ownership perhaps being the biggest culprit.

The problem with these things, as I see it, is that we’re speculating that the problem with the Leafs is that owners are demanding short term results all the time, and so put pressure on the GM’s. But we don’t really know if that’s true. We suspect it, but all the GM’s who have spoken about it (JFJ, BB) swear up and down it isn’t true. JFJ is still professing this even after he’s left the organization, so it’s not like they have any leverage to make him keep saying it… so really, we accuse them not even on hearsay, just on our need for a skapegoat. And who knows, maybe they really are guilty, we just don’t have that info available, and this guy doesn’t have any proof in his article either.
p.s., Miss your FTB’s :(
