I’ve been seeing some Habs fans online patting each other on the back about getting that bonus point. That’s the sort fo thing that basement dwellers should be celebrating, not a team supposedly headed for the playoffs. Not going to be a pretty few weeks in Montreal if this keeps up.

Can it before I drive this truculence through your faceulence and put you in an ambulance.

“Bonus points” do not help in the playoffs ;)

When the broadcast team took a break from fawning over the Habs they made a good point; this team is going to get worn down quickly in a 7 game series. They just don’t have the size and toughness to compete in the post season.

The Guess Who sucked, the Jets were lousy anyway

Lesson learned from the game is if the Habs fans give you shit, just chant " First round exit!!"

the argument that the Leafs had soft opponents on this win streak is a little less true after tonight. The first line is just simply awesome and I don’t think they need to change that for next season.

This team is obviously better and it’s funny how much you can achieve by just getting rid of tired players

by Chuck Diesel on Mar 20, 2010 10:43 PM EDT reply actions

and our D were completely thrown together at the beginning of the year. They’re having time to get to know each other. It’s funny how the best D’s in the league almost always have had a couple of years playing together.

It all adds up.

Knowing your D partner can get you out of so many tight situations. If you have to make a behYind the back pass or a blind pass in general it’s huge to know for sure where your partner will be. Plus knowing where they like the puck etc. You only get that through more and more time together. I think your point is right on. Phaneuf also seems to have a huge positive impact in the locker room

Stempniak

Hottest goal scorer in the NHL since the trade deadline. 9 goals in 8 games so far

I feel a bit ripped of but I always liked Stempniak so I’m happy that he’s finding success. Also I like Phoenix and want them to make the playoff so anything that helps them is good in my books

Boo hoo!

by Chris Stoikoff on Mar 20, 2010 11:18 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

there must have been some rotten attitude in the dressing room before. Since the trades Stempniak is ripping it up and the kids on the Leafs are tearing it up. The guys that went to Anaheim plus maybe Mayers must have been cancerous in some fashion or another. How can you explain this otherwise?

it’s a small sample, but it certainly looks like he’s found a system that he fits really well into, so it’s looking very good that he’ll at least produce better for you guys than for us. Here’s hoping he stays higher on the desert ninja deadly skillz than the desert ninja stealth ones.

I don’t know if it’s about attitude, Stempniak might not have meshed with Wilson or his linemates and sometimes those things just happen. He also had a real run of bad luck as a Leaf, and that happens as well.

Good for him though, he works hard and he deserves the success.

by koopa kid on Mar 20, 2010 11:57 PM EDT up reply actions

Phoenix has a completely different style of play from almost any other team in the western conference, and certainly from the Leafs. They also have easily one of the top 3 goaltenders in the league at the back end, and that gives them a lot of confidence, and lets them play players like Stemp, who aren’t perfect in their own zone. Stemp is clearly thriving in the different playstyle, and I’m glad he is. I don’t feel like he would’ve ever played this well with the kids in our organization, and, as an aside I don’t think he’ll be able to keep this pace up next season. I’ll be most interested in whether or not he keeps it up in the playoffs.

I like how the Canes game which means just as little as the Leafs vs. Habs game (at least for the leafs) makes the nhl.com front page and yet the Leafs vs. Habs game (probably the best matchup in the whole NHL AND goes to a shootout) doesn’t.

Seems stupid to me.

by BlindSight on Mar 20, 2010 11:58 PM EDT reply actions

They need to put that Hawks/Coyotes game on the front page (it just ended)…Coyotes won 5-4 in a shootout, coming back from down two twice, and the Coyotes sold out that game…

I love this quote

"We have better starts and a lot of that has to do with Dion being very vocal in the room before the game," Wilson said. "It’s led to some of the young kids who believe they’re going to be around for a while to join in. It’s a young aggressive group in there before a game.

Hope everyone loved watching the game on TV because I loved being there and meeting everyone after. Honeslty, the future looks fucking bright.

It wasn’t the Leafs that pushed it to overtime…..it was the ref who decided not to call the cheapshot on Phaneuf(hit from behind by unidentified havenot scumbag). All that being said that is now 7 points this year that the Havenots have stolen from the Buds.
