Who's Hungover?
Well last night was a great game for the PPPers to meetup and attend. Jared's drunken posts were remarkably similar to his sober ones (typos and all) and BTD supplied us with this awesome picture of Kessticle, who appears to be Phil Kessel's long lost twin brother. I'm sure they'll regale the rest of us with awesome stories about the drunkulence today and tomorrow - and hopefully many more pictures. I'm wondering if they managed to heckle George Strombolopolous (a Habs fan) and if Jared actually DID pee on any Habs fans, as I suggested he do.
Me, my plans went out the window so.... yeah.
On to the links.

Sorry your plans fell through. At least the Leafs won though. Nothing ruins a mood like a loss… Hope you sort it out.

In an auspicious and extraordinary meeting of blogger power, mf37, jr. wendelman, Kim Jorn and in a minor role, myself, met at Mitzi’s Sister and an excellent time was had by all. Notes-
1. KJ’s band Them Blades struck their first notes within approximately 1 second of Phil Kessel starting his shooting attempt. I yelled out to him that the Leafs won after the first song.
2. jr. wendelman and spouse were real troopers, driving in for an hour and a half despite being recently ravaged by some death flu.
3. The drummer for the band that followed Them Blades thought it would be an excellent idea to play in only his boxers. He also fell off his stool repeatedly and lost one of his drumsticks at one point.
4. Mitzi’s Sister pulled pork is very, very salty. TWSS
Good times.
I am Mikhail Grabovski's smirking revenge.
An excellent night at Mitzi’s Sister. I’d love to know what that drummer ingested prior to the gig. Can’t say I’ve ever seen a guy fall off a drumstool three times in a 20 minute gig.

Attending Leafs Games
Toronto Mike inspired me to share my checkered Leafs attendance with you.
Although I’d been a fan since the first regime of Cliff Fletcher (I was 12 at the time), I didn’t manage to attend a game until my mid-twenties.
The first Leafs game I ever went to was the famous Alfredsson pretends to throw his stick to make fun of Sundin game. Leafs lost in a 7-1 blow out and DGB claims it to be the most overblown Leafs/Senators incident of all time.
The second game I went to was a loss to the Coyotes, and it was the first game my then girlfriend/now wife had ever attended. This game is infamous for two reasons. First, they squandered a first period three goal lead and lost 4-3. Second, they then went on an epic losing streak that cost them the playoffs following this loss (I think they lost 8 or 9 or something).
Needless to say, for the benefit of the Leafs I don’t go to games anymore. And it’s totally helped them, right guys?

Or a team that drafted Alex Ovechkin and Nick Backstrom, or a team that drafted Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Jordan Staal and Marc-andre Fleury
Oh and Versteeg wasn’t drafted by the Hawks, he was acquired from the Bruins via trade i think

I think if the NHL got it’s act together and suspended the initial hit then we wouldn’t see so much retaliations. Either let them retaliate or suspend guys like cooke right off the bat. The suspension to me was way high because while he meant to destroy him I think he thought Seabrook was going to get the puck and when he didn’t it made the hit a lot worse.

Kulemin has an article in the star saying he wants to stay in Toronto. Not that we didn’t know but I think this whole KHL nonsense was a media creation. Cox still isn’t sure Kulie is top line material. I’m still not sure Cox isn’t below 25 iq points.

I know I’m dreaing a bit but 8-9 mil 4 years would make me soo happy. I don’t care if we pay him as high as 3.5 a season to be honest with you. He is showing a whole lot of sick play and consistency to boot.

He deserves a raise for sure. 3.5 seems like a decent number to me. There are many people more qualified than me to render contract verdicts.

I dont think he gets more than grabbo, probably a very comparable contract to our little pined apple stabber

Seems reasonable. He doesn’t have much leverage really. He wants to stay in Toronto. He has become my new favourite Leaf, I hope keeps up the good work.

We don’t really know how much the KHL risk was present with Kulemin. The threat with the KHL comes down to contract. He and his agent can use that for leverage because he is Russian and he was quite successful in that league. Of course, that doesn’t mean Kulemin would have fled to Russia.

This sounds familiar.
The Wild tied it 34 seconds later at 13:17 when Andrew Brunette sneaked the puck through Vesa Toskala’s pads from the goal line, then took the lead with 42 seconds remaining in the first period on Guillaume Latendresse’s team-leading 26th goal of the season. Latendresse’s power-play tally snapped an 0-for-9 power-play skid for Minnesota.
Kobasew’s goal at 3:05 of the second period made the score 3-1 and ended Toskala’s day. He topped nine of the 12 shots he faced. Miikka Kiprusoff allowed one goal on nine shots the rest of the way.
“We play a lot of games, we play every two days,” coach Brent Sutter said. “Your backup goaltender has got to start at some point in time. We’re still going to need him down the stretch here.”
Vesa ruins his teams chances in the stretch of about, oh ten minutes.

Yes
Looking back at it, next time we plan a day of drinking, you should have more than one piece of french toast to eat beforehand.
