And now for the “notes”, Hollywood style: I was kind of hoping for some audio clips from the big Friday night meet up – an audio podcast would be a perfect place to park a clip of you guys giving the Habs fans the business with a hearty ole ole, or chanting “first round exit”, etc, and it would have been gold to hear (for the first time) the drunken commentary that we ordinarily read (and for which we have to imagine the drunken voices in our head).

That last sentence was overly complicated and confusing. What I meant is that you guys (M. Forbes excepted, seeing as he was with me) seem to have missed a chance to provide actual drunken Jared commentary, in his own voice, as opposed to textual drunken Jared commentary. Maybe next time.

Anyway, despite that disappointment, I found the podcast interesting. Really liked the bit about MLG, its aura, and first games. Like I said, keep ’em comin.

True story:

I actually gave very serious thought to bringing a field recorder to the game specifically for this purpose. I gave up on that idea after realising there was no chance in hell they’d let one into the ACC.

Chemmy would tell you it’s a dangerous sex act that involves sharp teeth.

According to Urban Dictionary:

Jumping the Shark is a term to describe a moment when somethin that was once great has reached a point where it will now decline in quality and popularity. Origin of this phrase comes from a Happy Days episode where the Fonz jumped a shark on waterskis. Thus was labeled the lowest point of the show.

All done

Loved the captaincy discussion. Some well thought out comments there. would be an interesting topic to delve into deeper (as, I think Chemmy put it…)

mf’s comments re: the transition from one central spot for events, to multiple is quite apt. not knocking new stadiums either, as I like good sight lines, comfy seats, divided urinals and other modern amenities. i just don’t think “The ACC” will ever have the same ring as “The Gardens” or “MLG” ever did…

I can’t remember the dates, but my first three games:

Leafs beat Pens, Peter Ing gets only career shutout

Ignoring how improbable it was that the Leafs would be 3 for 3 given hou lousy they were then, I pretty much saw a unicorn in each of these games.
