PPP Dictionary: "Who the F--- is Tim Brent?"
Tim Brent is a player who has been listed on the training camp roster for the Leafs for several years. However, he has played a grand total of (so far) 18 games in the NHL.
This means that while he rarely, if ever, sees time in the NHL, his name somehow comes up as a "prospect." Since he never plays or gets exposure, the normal reaction this site has to him is "Who the fuck is Tim Brent?"

I think that Tim Brent would get a kick out of this.

I thought I saw Tim Brent at a restaurant once.
I went up to him and said “Are you Tim Brent?”
he said “Who?”
and then I said “Exactly.”

Sat in a class with him many a time.
Who the fuck is Tim Brent?
A Nation of Masochists Waiting is the hardest part.
Haha that Kessel pic is great. He needs to have a career as a sportscaster after winning multiple cups with the Leafs.
He’s so dreamy though.

actually, I believe Tim Brent was with the Ducks prior to this year, making it only this year he was listed on the training camp roster.

true
but he didn’t play all that much with the Ducks, either.
Article1: "I WANT HER TO BE A PRINCESS! THIS MAKES HER LOOK LIKE A SLUT!"
Actually he came to us from Chicago via Pittsburgh, and before that he was with Anaheim. I remember reading he came from Chicago so I was confused when I read here that he came from Anaheim.
2006-07 Anaheim 15 GP
2007-2008 Pittsburgh 1 GP
2008-2009 Chicago 2 GP
And in between those stops he’s played with the Cincinatti Mighty Ducks, Portland Pirates, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, and Rockford IceHogs.

Can someone please explain this to me?
Tim Brent’s draft history:
Selected by Anaheim Mighty Ducks round 2 #37 overall 2002 NHL Entry Draft
Selected by Anaheim Mighty Ducks round 3 #75 overall 2004 NHL Entry Draft
How is it that a player is drafted twice by the same team in two different years?
Also… not a good sign for him that he dropped a round and 38 places when he was drafted the second time!
by CanadianMaple09 on Mar 8, 2010 10:15 PM EST reply actions
After he was drafted in 2002 and didn’t sign with Anaheim, wouldn’t he just become some sort of free agent? And why would Anaheim bother wasting another draft pick on a guy who didn’t want to sign with them in the first place?
by CanadianMaple09 on Mar 8, 2010 10:19 PM EST up reply actions
Players used to have to re-enter the draft if they didn’t sign with their original team. It still may be a rule. I’m not sure.
Columbus: It's amazing how fast the world can go from bad to total shit storm.
Or the Leafs season: either one works
On the plus side, Burke wasn’t the GM who wasted a 2nd and a 3rd round pick on a guy who’d only play 15 games for the Ducks, get 1G 0A 1P 6 PIM.

If you’re still draft eligible after you don’t sign with your original team, you get put back into the draft. Otherwise you’re a free agent.
Tim Brent isn’t the only player this has happened to either. In 1998 Ottawa drafted goalie Mathieu Chouinard 15th overall. He didn’t sign, so because it was a 1st rounder Ottawa got a compensatory 2nd round pick in 2000, which they used to draft Chouinard again. He never played a game for Ottawa. ;)
Truculence...starting 10/1/09
I looked Chouinard up: His NHL experience is a total of 2 minutes played, 2 saves, 0.00 GAA, 1.00 Pct. Both of his minutes were for the Los Angeles Kings. Quite the career he had!
