The Price of a Save
Being bored and not having enough Maple Leafs news to keep me entertained, I decided to have a look at the price the GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs has paid per save for every goalie used over the last few years. I only accounted for games played, not minutes, so there is some discrepency as to the figures but the general idea would be accurate. I was quite surprised at the results. Basically the info below shows the salary of the goalie, average game wage for 82 games, the total games they played that season, the total money earnt in those games, the total amount of saves made in the season for that goalie and the average price the Toronto Maple Leafs paid per save.
I didn't produce this to form any opinions, I was just interested in the data. But after looking at it, F U Toskala! $2K to stop each puck! Belfour was skating all the way to the bank, although I think he did earn it.
I had to include the 1993 figures of Felix Potvin... $56 per save! BBBBAAARRRGGGAAAIIIINNNN!!!!!

This is interesting to see but I think we should focus on percentage points above or below league average vs. cost.

It'd be more interesting
But that sounds like a lot of work. It also sounds like something Gabe Desjardins may have already done. Anyone ever remember seeing something like this?
"Defense! Defense! Common! Do you call that blowing!?"
as it relates to Toskala/Raycroft years
I’d title this “The Price of a Sieve”
I have nothing interesting to say.

Another pun I'm surprised no one has considered:
This is the first time ‘Price’ and ‘Save’ have appeared in the same sentence in quite some time.
"Defense! Defense! Common! Do you call that blowing!?"
