Top 5 NHL Man-Crushes
So I saw an article that was linked on this site a few days ago about a guys NHL Man-Crushes, and it got me thinking about my top 5. They are:
I honestly don't know why I like this guy so much. He plays out in Florida, meaning I barely have a chance to see him play, but every time I do manage to catch a Panthers game, Horton's play attracts my attention. Maybe it's the untapped potential that gets me going, but I really like this kid.
4. Dion Phaneuf
Ever since I saw this guy kill Olesz in the World Juniors I've had a man-crush on him. When I found out the Leafs got him I just about came in my pants. The dude is a wrecking ball, and on the power play he can light the lamp. Not much more I can ask for out of Dion.
He just skates so smooth. By far he is my favourite guy to play with in NHL 10. I could watch him skate for hours.
Let me start by saying that aside from Canada, Sweden is my favourite country. They produce great hockey players, and great looking women. Franzen is my number 1 Swede. He's big, fast, and powerful. It seems like he can score any type of goal you can ask for; a snipe, a dangle, or a garbage goal. And let's not get started on how he turns it on in the playoffs.
By far the biggest man-crush I've ever had (except for maybe Tom Brady). I once dreamt that he was wearing a Leafs jersey...and I don't I need to tell you what happened during that dream. He is feisty yet agile, a grinder yet a sniper. He is defensively aware and still has the capability of scoring 30 goals/year. He was a part of the hardest working line for Team Canada, along with Nash and Toews. I've been drooling over this guy since he was the captain of the Kitchener Rangers. I have a picture of him beside my bed. He is the reason why I am also a Flyers fan. I could go on but I feel my point has been made.
Who are your Top 5 NHL Man-Crushes?

love this post...
tough too call, or narrow down to just five. I think I’m gonna have to go with (in no particular order)
Weber. Doughty, Downie, Brown, Chris Stewart (6’2, 238 lb PFW…), Horton, Rick Nash, and just about every guy who’s worn the Maple Leaf (blue or red…)
I have nothing interesting to say.
by blurr1974 on May 14, 2010 2:41 PM EDT reply actions
I agree, way too tough for just 5
After thinking about it, I really should have made it a top 10, there are too many guys that I love, but couldn’t include (Bobby Ryan, Drew Doughty, Colton Scorr, the list goes on…)

DOH
Bobby Ryan! I knew I was forgetting somebody…

Yes
He was great in the Olympics when it mattered, he is a beast of a defender. He’s dirty which is a problem but I don’t care.

Question
Can a female who is interested in men have a “mancrush” on a player? As in, you like the player for skill without attraction? Or would this spark a whole other “puck bunny” debate that has been beaten like a dead horse?
Article1: "I WANT HER TO BE A PRINCESS! THIS MAKES HER LOOK LIKE A SLUT!"
sorry
but I think not.

I think that’s ok.

If a girl can be a bro (and SHE CAN, DAMNIT) she can certainly have a man crush.
"...sometimes I wake up cradling a gourd."
for instance
I love Sundin for his hockey skills, and i respect him deeply, but I wouldn’t go home with him.
Article1: "I WANT HER TO BE A PRINCESS! THIS MAKES HER LOOK LIKE A SLUT!"
I think so.
For example, I have a “crush” on Johnny Boychuk cuse’ he’s sexy
I have a so called “Mancrush” on Marc Savard beacuse he can play hockey, though he is not attractive at all.

He even grew up as a die-hard Leafs fan. Sigh.
Supporter of the Sergei Berezin "Give and Go" - You give me puck, then you go to hell
And stuck up for his team to the point that he offered to meet Gary Bettman outside to repeat some derogatory comments he’d made about the Blues spending philosophy at a league meeting. And he fell to his knees and cried when he missed the deciding shootout attempt and Team Canada lost.

Let's complete this ruing of former hockey player fans
Scott Stevens also grew up as a Leafs fan.
Supporter of the Sergei Berezin "Give and Go" - You give me puck, then you go to hell
As upsetting as it is to us that all of these great players who grew up Leaf fans play for other teams I’m sure that the Columbus Blue Jackets are happy that’s not how things work. Otherwise we’d probably have Rick Nash….fuck.

Rick Nash would be a Leaf if steve friggen Mason didnt have his damned one year wonder boy run last year and make everyone think Columbus was a soon to be contender

Retired : Clark, Sakic, Neely, Gilmour, Roberts
Current : Kulemin, Webber, Ovechkin, Toews, Doughty.
October 25, 1966. Thank you Lord Kelvin
Kulemin has come up a few times here. He’s working his way onto my list too. You can’t help but love him for his hard work, his defensive prowess, his physicality and the knack for scoring he’s shown. If he continues to develop he’s going to end up one hell of a two way player.
Nice picks all around.

Toews
Ovie
Getzlaf

I’m just going to put this out there: Lundqvist’s hair is ALWAYS. PERFECT. Even here, with his helmet off and his pants a little brown-er, the hair doesn’t care.
Non-Caps for me
Honorable mention: Joe Pavelski, Mike Richards, Jonathan Toews, Patrice Bergeron, Tomas Vokoun (can he please play on a real team?), Ryan Suter, Jack Johnson, Drew Doughty
5. Corey Perry
4. Rick Nash
3. Ryan Callahan
2. Pavel Datsyuk
1. Zach Parise
Among all players, Nicklas Backstrom easily tops my list. Swedish warrior he is indeed.
Retired: Joe Sakic, Peter Bondra
Cидни Kросби: Александр Oвечкин, он твой папа теперь
Capitals Coming: for Capitals fans who can bear reading something less intelligent than a story at Japers' Rink
I admit I have a soft spot for Corey Perry as well. He has his douchebag moments but he’s a skilled player that I’d love to have on my team.
leaf fan stuck in ottawa, a localized black hole that will suck everything in that area to oblivion.
I love his goal celebrations. I mean, his was the best in the Olympic final.
Also, I always trade for him in NHL 09 (didn’t buy 10) to play with Backstrom and Ovechkin, and that was before I learned of his d-bagness.

Patrick Berglund
Brett Hull
Anze Kopitar(I have based every single Franchise mode team both EA and 2K around him for the last 2 years.)
Bobby Ryan..ish….(he kneed one of our players in the head a while back and it was in pretty douchetacular fashion. Im still on the fence whether I want him on my team because of it.)
Ryan Miller
CuJo (You punch Chevelday in the face you get a mancrush).
He raged at the world, at his family, at his life. But mostly he just raged.
Just because Jay McClement is the best defensive forward in the NHL doesn't mean he should win the Selke.
Let me add to my list: Most every Bruin
