A Chick Tract mocking JFJ?!? For me, it doesn’t get any better than this.

People hate on JFJ a bit to much. Sure some of the deals he made could of been better but ownership are the main ones to blame. If they let him build the team the way he wanted to the Leafs would look a lot like the Kings or blackhawks do now.
he was hand cuffed somewhat for sure, but he still made two bone sick stupid trades that crippled the Leafs as a franchise when there were many many MANY better, cheaper and less risky options

Yea but the thing was ownership wanted big time results and they wanted them FAST. Similar to the quick turn around the team had in the early 90’s after the Calgary trade, but honestly how often does something like that happen? When he seen how they were interfering he should of resigned right away but he rolled the dice and lost. I’d bet any amount of money he would of kept pogge and rask if left alone then traded pogge away when he didn’t out good. Pisses me off how we could probably be a cup contender this coming season if it wasn’t for ownership.
thing is he didn;t HAVE to make either trade, he could have kept the picks and prospects and signed a better goalie with a bettor record for free, the fact that he totally ignored this option and immediately went to code red blind panic grasp at any shitty deal an advantageous GM makes to him for a goalie who has ‘promise’ or a ‘change of scenery’ makes him a horrible GM and weak minded person

not to mention the resigning of guys like belfour and domi to inflated contracts, the signing of Jason Allsion and oft injured Eric Lindros. Signing jeff O Neil, trading a 2nd for Yanic Perrault, NTCs for Tucker, Kaberle, McCabe and Kubina. Not trading Kaberle and Steen for Pronger, and a bunch of other things i cant think of right now.

Brian Burke waived Ilya Bryzgalov the year we traded a 1st, 2nd and 4th and took bad salary for Toskala.
Telling me Burke wouldn’t have taken a 4th for Bryzgalov who he lost for nothing?

If the bad deals were his – he’s an incompetent GM.
If the bad deals were foisted on him by ownership – he’s an incompetent GM.

JFJ couldn’t sell his plan and couldn’t implement the ownership’s plan. Either way, he was an overall failure.

No words is right
Got home from work today, for the first time in three weeks I have no homework to do and no need to be in any other place. I grabbed my lappy and headed out on to the porch to sit in my Grandad’s rocking chair with an icy-cold BEvERage close to hand whilst perusing whassup in PPP land.
First thing I see? A Chick tract in which JFJ gets disembloodinated by a vengeful Wendel.
Life is good sometimes, and this is one of those times.

Hasn't Burke traded away just as many first-round picks as Ferguson did?
Just sayin’…
