What would we be spending the Kovalchuk money on? Overpaid third liners?
Our biggest need is elite talent in our top six. Adding a 20 goal scorer for $3M and saying “eh it looks ok” is a terrible plan compared to actually using our cap space to bring in one of the best players in the league.

That’s 144 goals + Kadri… I’m FINE with all that. especially since if you say they’re 56-60% of the LEafs offense, the team should end up with 250 goals or so all around. No problem there.

The TSN Heads must have an inside track that Kovy is coming to the Leafs, that would explain all the irrational trashing of him.

I know you’ve mentioned Cox having sources, but it seems to me like LeBrun has the ear of either Burke or Nonis, doesn’t it?
"if women think they aren’t meant to cook…then why do they have milk and eggs inside them?"
I think Burke uses the media miles more than JFJ ever did. I haven’t looked at LeBrun as much to see.

Basically Columbus is from a game time thread where someone asked where the game was and about 20 people answered Columbus. Now, whenever something is repeated, we generally exclaim it must be happening in Columbus

All of the free agents will be signed. Everyone will be asking “Where’s Kovalchuk?”
Days pass. Weeks pass. It’s September. Someone asks Brian Burke about the Leafs lack of depth on the left wing.
“We signed Kovalchuk at 12:01 on July first. I personally sat with his agent and we laughed at all the teams calling to sign him for days.”
