What would the Leafs look like in a six-team NHL?
Disclaimer: this was written in late 2009, so I don't know if it was posted before, but it's August and my first fanshot
Le Grand Club (Montreal) celebrated the Habs' centennial by imagining what a six-team league would be like with today's players. Each original six team gets to keep three of their own players, and then conducts a draft to pick the rest of their roster. The original three:
Tomas Kaberle, Phil Kessel, Francois Beauchemin
The new additions:
Sidney Crosby, Dion Phaneuf (article written before The Trade), John Tavares, Anze Kopitar, Jay Bouwmeester, Miikka Kiprusoff, Ryan Smyth, Brad Richards, Daniel Sedin, Henrik Sedin, Milan Hejduk, Ales Hemsky, Erik Johnson, Dustin Penner, Niklas Kronwall, Steve Mason, Maxime Talbot
How would this team do? What team would you put up for the Leafs and the other teams?
Here's the original article if anyone wants to read French.

Kaberle – Phaneuf
Bouwmeister – E. Johnson
Beauchemin – Kronwall
S. Mason
That’s unfortunate goaltending, but holy shit on Fwds.
There's always money in the banana stand.
A drinking team with a hockey problem.
Oops
Kiprusoff
S. Mason
Much better.

I’m not very happy with the goaltending either (although Kipper is an improvement on Mason), but yeah I love the forwards

Kopitar – Crosby – Kessel
To paraphrase DGB, the biggest risk here would be shoulder injuries caused by raising arms in celebration after scoring on every shift.
shoulder surgeries FTW!

While we’re at it, why don’t we open a similarly sized can of worms by asking “What would the outcome of WWII be if Hitler hadn’t been a raving made lunatic?”

Everyone in Europe would have German as their first language?
