Rookie Tournament: Maple Leafs v. Blackhawks
Not much to add before the game. If you are in Toronto or London you're watching on Rogers and otherwise hopefully you can watch it on MapleLeafs.com. Another option might be HockeyStreams.com or so someone told me. Chris DiDomenico will not play but Phillipe Paradis will be suiting up for the Hawks. Nazem Kadri will be there in front of the hometown crowd looking to give his push for a permanent spot on the Maple Leafs a big kick-start. According to James Mirtle Jussi Rynnas will get the start tonight and each of the three goalies, James Reimer and Ben Scrivens, will get one game each.
The Blackhawks will be drawing their line-up from the following roster. Looks like they will not be making many changes with such a small roster.
Player numbers after the jump:
Birky update:
Ross - #65
Kadri - #43
D'Amigo - #71
Olden - #74
Mueller - #45
Carrick - #70
Irwin - #44
McKegg - #69
Gysbers - #58
Ryan - #68
Mitchell - #56
Devane - #67
Blacker - #62
Holzer - #55
Rynnas - #40

Watching online so I’m an hour behind but so far liking what I’m seeing. I’m seeing hockey, in case anyone was wondering. And I like it!
Kadri-D’Amigo-Mitchell was the line I wanted to see, so that’s cool.
Simon Gyspers looks real. I mean compared to the other D on pretty much both teams who are getting their doors blown off. It’s clear that forwards develop more quickly than defenders.

At the game, thoughts so far...
The McKegg and Ross goals we’re pretty, otherwise Ross has been mostly invisible, McKegg has looked good. Kadri has been pretty much invisible for the most part, Rynnas took a delay of game penalty for the trapezoid. Blacker has made some nice passes, Mitchell has been all hustle. D’Amigo has been pretty invisible as well.
The player I have been most impressed by so far? Holzner. He has made some nice defensive plays, been taking the body, and he looks eerily like Phaneuf.
On the whole most of them look rusty, and they definitely look like threy haven’t been playing together for very long.
