Rookie Tournament: Maple Leafs v. Penguins
More hockey? Oh this weekend keeps getting better! Tonight the baby buds take on the baby pens. Here's the crop of kids from which the Penguins will be selecting their roster. While the Leafs were beating the Chicago Blackhawks' kids the Penguins were taking care of the Ottawa Senators' crop of youngsters. Our very own JP Nikota penned a recap for Pensburgh while Silver Sever Sens had their own view of the game.
As per Jonas Siegel, Nazem Kadri won't play tonight as a precautionary measure. I think he hurt his hip on that cheap shot by a Hawk after he laid that big hit on another kid I can't be bothered to know. Mikhail Stefanovich will draw into the lineup tonight. Cornell's Ben Scrivens will get the start in goal tonight as per James Mirtle.

From listening to Bob McGill last night...
…Chris Didominico played for RPI last year with D’Amigo and if there were a Masterton Trophy in the NHL Dido would be a consideration despite not playing a single game in the NHL.

I thought he said “if there were a masterton trophy in the college level.” At least, I figured that was what he meant, referring to DiDo’s broken leg comeback.

Actually, in all seriousness, yeah, get a hobby, and start working out. You just lost a chunk of your lifestyle, need to start getting yourself all tired out and build your life back up again.
It takes a while, and that while SUCKS… but you inevitably work through it. You ain’t the first, and you won’t be the last. So what I’m saying here is that hope is pretty much a certainty :)
Also, life goes on. Even after shit has got seriously crazy in your neighborhood and stuff has been blowed up..

Life moves on, and at some point in the future, no matter how improbable it seems now, it all becomes a slightly faded memory and a good story.
I got dumped on the morning of 5/30/1993. Now that, my friend, is a kick in the junk.

Seeing as how i had my roughly 2 year relationship end a couple months ago, the key is not to second guess yourself. the older I get, the more I realize this is true — your “league” is whoever’s out there who sees the value in you and feels lucky to be with you.
I think it’s healthy for both people to think their partner is “too good” for them, but not by too much. It’s a partnership — not a trophy.
As for advice, I dunno — I don’t have much. I’m 30 now but when I was 27 I broke up with my gf of 6 years. Holy hell, hardest thing I ever had to do. I can only imagine the added pain there would have been if it wasn’t my choice.
You def have to move on. If she’s made a horrible mistake, there’s nothing you can do to make her realize it — she has to get there herself. And if she doesn’t, well then, that’s that. I know it’s hard, but cut out the pedestal stuff ASAP.
If you think you’re better off with someone than without them, you can’t move on. Try to think of it as Day 1 of a new phase that will see you better off than the good you felt yesterday. I dunno.
Not that any of this helps you get through the short term.

This. You just can’t sit on your hands and think “what if, what if, what if.” Not only will it kill you, it’s stupid, it’s a waste of time, and you’re probably just leading yourself on (as in, it wouldn’t really unfold that way). “What if” are two terrible words at this point in time. Also, if there’s ever a case to go offtopic in a GDT, I think you win.

I was turning over with the sheets,
Facing the arched back
Thinking of how my eyes, half-opened,
Caught her arm moving from side to side, but never to mine.
It’s all connected by blank words to tell empty
Promises of clumsy miscommunication.
So we say what we will, to see what we may,
To find a Biblical knowing
Enfolded within the next few hours.
It’s too sad, too tragic…
I spent myself choking on the motions leading up to said misfortune.

Still a 1-0 score? I hope McKegg keeps turning heads and is the real deal. So few steals at forward for the Leafs, if any. IF this guy keeps it up and becomes a true top 6, woo hoo!

ya
i saw it (online)….
i’m a bit disappointed in the lack of scoring touch from D’Amigo, though Olden, Gysbers and Ryan showed some promise in this game.
Still, PPP has a point, the Penguins brought their farm team and they were better gelled together. Too bad about Scrivens blowing the game in the end, but at least Rynnas was brilliant last night, so that’s a plus.
D’Amigo’s lack of a tangible presence in the last two games has me worried. Let’s hope that some exposure to the AHL and lighting up the scoreboard at the Ricoh gives him some confidence.

Tough break
They brought in the ringers
"Playin hurt, baby that don't faze me. I don't got time for pain. The only pain I've got time for is the pain I put on fools who don't know what time it is!"
My sentiments exactly...
Take note people. Our young juniors faired extremely well against a team with a number of AHL regulars on it. I’m quite pleased from a personal standpoint actually. Kenny Ryan looked like a real NHL player out there tonight, he was everywhere. If he had buried one of those chances we would be talking about a win.
I stopped at 7 AHL regulars on the ice for the Pens tonight and we are talking the 09-10 roster.
Love Kegger, he will be a great Maple Leaf forward in the future IMO. Only 18 years old and I love the way he plays.
Aside from the last goal, Ben Scrivens had a really great game otherwise. It happens, he will learn.
All things being as unequal as they were, I am impressed.
Man ....
Can I say dissapointing … Scrivens was having such a great game … that goal with 32 sec left was killer
He’s a rookie. Shit happens.

Were the Penguins really the dirty bassas the game in six makes them out to be?

Ben Scrivens
This is way early to judge so don’t take it the wrong way but I really think Scrivens showed way better skills than Jussi Rynnas did last game.
