You always have to do your best. It’s simple. If you play good you’re going to get the chance to play more and if you play bad you’re not going to get so many chances. And it’s a tough competition with Jiggy so of course I know that. It’s the story of the life for a goalkeeper.

Apparently Vesa hasnt read the story before, he just plays bad and expects more playing time.

I have a good feeling about the monster, really hope he has a Felix the Cat style season this year and helps take this team to the next level. Now if we can just find a new Gilmour…..

I think Gustavsson is going to take the #1 spot by mid-season the latest. He’s the future of this team and if he’s playing on even par with Giguere then he will be given the role. You have to get him experience

by The Muppet on Sep 9, 2010 12:37 PM EDT reply actions

Also remember that Giguere is 33 and will wear down as the season goes on; Wilson knows this and so will probably transition Giggy and Gus from 1 and 2 to 2 and 1 as the season progresses.

But then what happens to Giguere after next year? His contract is up, do we resign him or let one of our goalies in the minors come up?

I would suspect that one of Scrivins, Rynnas, or Reimer will step up at least to the level of NHL back up. Even if he takes a huge pay cut, I don’t think we’ll have a roster spot for him.

That has 100% to do with his performance, our cap situation, and whether Gus and the other goalies are ready to take over.

I believe it. He’s probably a Swedish hipster. His off day may consist of wearing a cardigan in his finely decorated apartment while sipping red wine, listening to Serge Gainsbourg and reading one of his many leather-bound books.

Good

The fact that he “gets it” tells me he’s going to fix the problems in his game that were apparent last year.
About time we have a goalie that will learn from his mistakes, instead of being pleased with mediocrity.
