1 goal in 15 KHL games.
I’d say that’s a bit of a concern for a guy with potential.

And what was the big deal about him again? I forgot all the hype surrounding him.

Highly sough-after free agent.
Apparently he had nice hands. In his days with the Stars, he had rare flashes of that.

He was the top QMJHL draft prospect in his year. Scored at about .75 goals per game and was (guess what) a winger with size and a scoring touch. On the other hand he has always been known to have character problems.
But he is 2-fucking-1 and the winger-size-prospect and if you have seen him play he is talented. Yeah he takes shifts off, but that is what coaching is for.

According to a commenter at DBD, he had to clear waivers going down, so i’d imagine yes.

this is a AHL deal
The Marlies have multiple injuries right now. He’ll stay with them for the rest of the season. I think he’ll have to clear re-entry waivers as well.

I don't hate it.
So there’s that.

In other news, this is Burke’s ploy to convince Richards he gets to play with ex-teammates next year.

Thank God. We got him. Finally. I can now stop feeling such shame that we missed out on him in the first place.

This feels like missing out on the girl of your dreams, only to get her when the guy she chose over you is done with her because she’s gotten fat and insecure.

Basically Burke is showing that, no matter where a College or European sought-after FA wants to sign, he will end up with the Leafs eventually; might as well get it over with right away.
Resistance is futile.

This is cool. Add a body to the depth chart. Maybe whatever Eakins taught Crabb and Boyce will also be taught to Fabio. It clearly wasn’t getting through to Stefanovich. Hopefully the Belorussian flourishes in the KHL, becomes a big star, and wants to stay there.
And, we now have a Fabio in the organisation.

Good point from Mirtle
Few teams want a $700,000 players on their minor league team, but Leafs won’t miss the cash. It’s a gamble that he turns into something.

How do you guys feel about all of this?
I can tell you, as a Stars fan, that I’m happy to be rid of Fabian. He’s been in the AHL, and I kind of forgot he existed, but his whole situation was really disappointing.
I hope he can find his footing in Toronto, because he’s like a lovely guy.

Our general consensus:
“Meh.”
We all naturally assume the worst. Brunnstrom will never play in the NHL again and Stefanovich is going to put it all together finally and become a force to be reckoned with for years to come.
Smoke Weed Every Day.
Seems to be a mix of contentment and apathy. Small risk for a potential small reward who happens to cost a lot for the AHL.

I’m guardedly optimistic, he looks like maybe he’ll rebound and if he ever does he could actually be decent.
Cyril: I'm not sure that's technically irony.
Archer: What? This is like O. Henry and Alanis Morissette had a baby and named it this exact situation!
He's shown flashes of what he could become.
His biggest problem is that he was never conditioned in the AHL; he just jumoed straight to the NHL, and he really could have used a year or two down in the minor league.

Ya
figured as much… especially since how highly touted he was. I’m a bit disappointed to lose Stefanovich, but after this season it was pretty clear he wasn’t going anywhere in the Leafs organization.
Mediocrity for mediocrity here… this has to be one of the first trades where we actually acquired an OLDER player giving up a younger one.

He’s supposed to be Belarusian but, at least to my knowledge, hasn’t yet stabbed a single pineapple.
So you know, what’s the point?

As I said on another thread, any young Star not named Benn, Neal or Eriksson coming here won’t derive much excitement from me.
(Not that we’d ever get any of them. Except MAYBE Benn, by some miracle. Which I’d love. I’m a huge Benn fan, largely by virtue of being from the same hometown as him)
