No Tomorrow for Giguere in Leafs Nation

Okay, so reports are surfacing once again that someone wants out of Leafs Nation. Is anyone out there surprised? I personally am not. Jean-Sebastien Giguere was great for the Anaheim Ducks and no one is criticizing his effort or his helpful locker room presence as a mentor to Jonas Gustavsson. The fact is he is being paid far more than he is worth. No one seems to know what value we can get out of him in a trade though. If we throw Giguere and Mike Komisarek into the equation and assume that the Leafs are a buyer by the Feb. 28 trade deadline date, here are some options and keep in mind all these teams are sellers.

Buyer: Leafs

Sellers: New Jersey, Tampa Bay, Washington, Detroit, Rangers, Dallas

New Jersey

First, we are not going to get Zach Parise, and any team that trades for him is going to be in the same position as the Leafs are this season. BUT we could get Zajac and that is good if not better. Kaberle for Zajac and a pick coming our way I would have to say.

Tampa:

Simon Gagne anyone? He's a second fiddle to the Leafs getting Brad Richards who is also a UFA but could also be a good rental. Gagne for Kaberle and Finger if they will take him. Please take him.

Washington:

Alex Semin to the Leafs! This premise is as exciting as Mogilny to the Leafs. Oh wait he got injured and couldn't play for half of his contract. But, Semin is unhappy in Washington and a change to make the leafs Letter is what we need. Washington is interested in Giguere or so the rumour mill is saying and we can give the Caps Jeff Finger as well. The idea is good for Semin but I don't think it will happen. I don't see the chemistry between having two snipers on one line who always want the puck. Who's going to pass, and besides the Leafs need a Centre.

Detroit:

Hear me out on this one. Who is a cheap, reliable, forward with a scoring touch and the ability to win? KRIS DRAPER that is who. He is a UFA at the end of this year and although the Leafs already have "Father Figures" in the likes of Beauchemin and Komisarek this guy could be just what we need for young centres like Bozak and Jerry D'Amigo. And he's Canadian. Draper for a couple of low picks. Oh, and Finger? Where would Detroit place Finger on their roster?

Rangers/Boston:

I don't think Burke would do this but I'm not seeing Kaberle to the Rangers. They need a defencemen but the only way this would be acceptable to me is if a 1st rounder is involved and Frolov. Drive a hard bargain Burke. For Boston, Kaberle and Finger for Mark Stuart and Blake Wheeler

Dallas:

Rumour is Dallas will change their approach and not sign Brad Richards. They will be rebuilding for the years to come with Ribeiro's contract looming in the coming years. Brad Richards, Morrow for Kaberle, Finger, and Giguere in a monster deal.

The truth is that when Giguere says he sees a "Future here in Toronto" he means there's a future for all the young players that we have. Bye, bye Jiggy, and don't get hurt.

Welcome

Thanks for joining.

This is a pretty good post satirizing insane trade rumours. Kudos.

Detroit? Now that they’ve lost out on Nabby, maybe it makes sense. I wouldn’t trade Giguere anyway though.
