Fuck the Habs
Matthew Lombardi announces his presence with authority, scoring a shorthanded goal after some of the worst defensive play I've ever seen. #15 looks like he's in midseason form already. Amazingly, the Leafs continue to struggle on the powerplay. Poor zone entry and little movement. Reimer wasn't tested nearly as much in the 2nd, but I'd imagine he'll see a bit more in the 3rd.
20 more to go. GO LEAFS GO!

"If you've ever questioned whether or not @dboyce47 is a gamer, well, the answer is as plain as the nose that used to be on his face." - Sean Boulton
Are you kidding me?
To be fair, I’m twenty, so the people around me don’t even god damn remember the original Jets.
"If you've ever questioned whether or not @dboyce47 is a gamer, well, the answer is as plain as the nose that used to be on his face." - Sean Boulton
I know, but it’s understandable if you cheered for the original team, and now move your loyalties to this one when they moved.
However, it is completely inexcusable for you to abandon your current team to cheer for the Jets just because they’re the hot fucking topic in Manitoba.

What happens to Bozak if this keeps up? BC 3rd line C Lombardi, 4th Steckel, if they both keep playing that well.
My degree is worthless
Bozak goes to the 3rd line LW, Frattin to the AHL until someone gets injured? I have no idea, we haven’t had depth “problems” like this in forever

There’s no reason why Steckel can’t take a draw then slide over to the wing, or the bench for that matter.

I’m just saying he registered zero shots and he played under 15 minutes… that doesn’t make sense to me… he’s probably one of our top 3 all around players, and he played less than the following forwards:
Joffrey Lupul = 19:27
Phil Kessel = 20:50
Mikhail Grabovski = 17:49
Matt Frattin = 16:17
David Steckel = 15:41

that goes without saying. They were using Steckel for faceoffs and then out so that’s why he got so much icetime. Plus we took a bit too many penalties and he was out there killing. He played Lupul kessel bozak a lot tonight. I don’t know why Kulemin had less ice than Frattin and Grabbo though maybe the winger on the previous line wasn’t getting off the ice when he was supposed to.

score?
he played MORE when the game was tied and when they were holding the lead…
he played 4:30 in the 2nd, but Frattin played 5:27… largely on the basis of a differential in their ES ice time, since they played the exact same PP minutes (2:03) and Kulemin played 22 seconds of SH time that Frattin didn’t see.

played 9 shifts in the 2nd period, one of which was 7 seconds long, and another was only 18… he had a few that weren’t even 30 seconds… strange.

let me sum it up.
1. lots of big hits from the Leafs
2. PK looked pretty good 5-5
3. Reimer was standing on his head
4. Lombardi looks really fast.
5. At first our D was having a hell of a time even getting the puck to center ice but after they calmed down and even Komi looked solid.

Ton of PK time which I think was probably why Steckel had so much.

Bit of a life story
In 2005, 13 months after the Leafs last playoff appearance, my parents moved from Toronto to BC (I moved with them).
This month, they’re moving to Mississauga for two years. I’ve told them if the Leafs make the playoffs this year, they’re never allowed to leave Ontario. They laugh…but only because they don’t know just how serious I am…..

I was planning
on sacrificing my fandom at the altar of doing nothing but going insane with work, but frankly that sucks a lot of energy out of me and I’m not particularly enjoying it recently.
as a way of tuning out, paying attention to this shit seems to work…. thanks for being an outlet!

continue to do so… shouldn’t be that hard.

I'm no
more concerned with it than I was in the pre-season… which matters even less than this 1 game… why you’re surprised is a bit outside my ken.

No one’s asking you to fundamentally change your personality. Just keep a lid on that kind of comments in the hours after a win in which most of us are just happy that we won and don’t want to care about what the statistics say or the insignificance of one win in the long term.

Why does it matter what I think of your personality? The only thing I’m suggesting is that it would be nice if you didn’t post negative comments soon after a Leafs win in which everyone in here is celebrating. It doesn’t matter if you’re the biggest dick or the nicest guy, I don’t care what your personality is. It seems so simple.

Is it so hard to respect people in the GDT who want to celebrate the win? You know that there will be at least one post tomorrow with the game summary, and you can do your usual analysis and break it down there? No one is telling you that you can’t be analytical or that you can’t do your usual criticism. All I’m saying is that right here, right now, is not the right place or time.

Only Burtch could take something as simple as a puppy and kill it. Err, I mean, an opening day shutout.

Things I'm still bothered by
1. No Tim Connolly…
2. WTF happens when MacArthur gets back…
3. Is Jake Gardiner really best served by playing 13 minutes a night in the NHL?
"Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm."

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the Leafs.
1. We would have woon 11-0 with Connolly
2. We will win every game 11-0
3. No he should be playing 73 mins a game.

1. so….
2. Frattin goes to the A.
3. maybe not. who cares? it’s one game.

well
1. so… we have a limited amount of ice time to go around, and I’m curious who gets more or less on the basis of Connolly and MacArthur returning to the line up.
2. see above.
3. I care, one game becomes two and then three… eventually it’ll be 82 and the question wasn’t only about 1 game.
