Two teams singing the Blues
Who: Toronto Maple Leafs (9-5-1; 19 points; 2nd in East) at St. Louis Blues (7-7-0; 14 points; 12th in West)
What: Game #16 of the Regular Season
Where: Scottrade Center, St. Louis, Missouri
When: 8:00pm - TSN
Why: Because we need more proof that Jonas Gustavsson isn't an NHL goalie.
Toronto comes in off of two crushing losses, having scored only one goal and allowing 12 over that span. James Reimer remains out with a concussion, so it's either Jonas Gustvasson or Ben Scrivens in net (I use the term loosely). On the other hand, the Blues recently hired Ken Hitchcock as their new coach, so the St. Louis players are likely depressed and struggling to find the will to live. Also, Brian Elliott may be in goal (Phil Kessel says YYYYEEEAAAAHHHHH).
Should be a good one.

Since I missed the Leafs’ home game on Tuesday, here’s a make-up caricature. Fingers crossed that the caricature can bring back some of the Leafs’ mojo. They’re 5-1-1 on nights I’ve released one, and 4-3-0 when I haven’t. Coincidence? We shall see!

Time for the captain to play like one...
Phaneuf has to take some blame for the 2 recent losses…as a captain he needs to take charge and set an example…don’t give me some stat like he has 10 points in last 10 games…i mean show some leadership and make others accountable….
I’m all for this, but aside from being a ppg defender (which is ridiculous by the way) and delivering open ice hits on a regular basis how do you suggest he shows leadership and holds his teammates accountable? Honest question.
Let the Wookie win.

my suggestion...
speak to the players who aren’t giving it their best effort…a loss is attributed to the team, not individuals, but every individual on the team is responsible. As a captain, he needs to play with fire and intensity that needs to be cascaded to the team, not kept to himself. Have each player be accountable for their performance…it starts with the captain and then make sure the others are on the same page…
They should ask his mom what she thinks.

question for today's game...
From the Toronto Star: The Leafs have plenty of leadership, but Dion Phaneuf hasn’t been as much of a factor lately as he should be. What kind of game will the captain come up with?
That doesn’t really call into question his leadership, more the fact that he’s had a few crappy games lately

What's the point?
Rookie goalies need to face shots as a backup for a few seasons before you know where they’re at.
So why instadump the third string goalie if the second string is bad, and go for the 5th string
I’m only joking but illustrating how bad our goaltending situation is. At this point I’d be ectactic if Reimer played a game in November.
