Successful Sabres to Re-Visit Buffalo
Who: The Toronto Maple Leafs v. The Buffalo Sabres
What: Game 31 of the 2011-2012 regular season.
When: 7:30 PM
Where: TSN or AM 640.
Despite Lupul's protest, the Leafs will visit Buffalo tonight to play against the Sabres in the first game of this weekend's back-to-back. This will be Tim Connolly's first game against his old club, who opted not to re-sign him so that they could sign Ville "3-7-10 in 29" Leino to a 6 year, 27-million dollar contract, bringing the 28 year old's 73 career regular-season points to Buffalo. But don't worry: he'll turn it on if Buffalo makes the playoffs, I'm sure.
Clarke MacArthur will likely be playing on a line with Tim Connolly, and currently has 5 points in 6 games against the club that drafted him, including three points in his last game. Buffalo's Vanek-Roy-Pominville setup is still putting up strong numbers, and Wilson will likely try to match Gunnarsson and Phaneuf against the three.
Injured players on Buffalo's official roster include the UFA-Wonder himself, Ville Leino, as well as Tyler Meyers, Brad Boyes, Patrick "Scumbag" Kaleta, and Nathan Gerbe. In Toronto, the song remains the same, as Komisarek, Lombardi, and Brown remain out.
Reimer is expected to get the start tonight, and Miller will get the nod for Buffalo.
Leafs' lineup isn't expected to change since the Carolina game:
-
Lupul-Bozak-Kessel
MacArthur-Connolly-Armstrong
Frattin-Grabovski-Kulemin
Crabb-Steckel-Dupuis
-
Gunnarsson-Phaneuf
Gardiner-Schenn
Liles-Franson
-
Reimer
Gustavsson
-
If the Leafs lose in regular time tonight, the Sabres will jump us in the standings. Go Leafs Go!

Patrick “Scumbag” Kaleta is rumored to be playing tonight (Lindy Ruff has given up on confirming lineups)
If so, he’s highly likely to do something scumbaggery because he’s particularly dirty when returning from injury.

Also i’d complain about Meyers Myers but i assume you did it on purpose, or would claim so even if you hadn’t noticed it before.

You’re a fuckin douche bag. You know that right? According to Wikipedia, you’re from Fort Saskatchewan, a city in Alberta, Canada, most well known for its proximity to petrochemical facilities, including Dow Chemical, Sherritt International, Agrium and Shell Canada. It is also known for its flock of 50 sheep that roam its downtown park throughout the summer months eating the grass. The city mascot is a sheep named Auggie. I guess you would have preferred a photo of a chemical plant or some sheep. By the way, its JEffrey, not Joffrey, what kind of a fuckin name is that, go the fuck back to Canada!

At a hotel in Buffalo while getting my US citizenship, we wanted to go to the mall nearby just for something to do before we left the next day. We were given the “scenic route” there, and it was right though a gheeeeettttto area. Like, lock your doors, drive through the red lights if anyone approaches the car.

It’s funny how both Stafford and Kulemin – two guys who I thought were great comparables for each other last season – are both having terrible starts production-wise.
Stafford has 15 points, Kulemin 11
Stafford shooting at 6.4% (compared to 17.3% last season), Kulemin shooting at 4.7% (also 17.3% last season)

yes yes yes, and all the "benching" talk was ridiculous
Still, funny that a guy who played and scored very similarly last year is also struggling in a very similar way.

Deadspin has more on the Milbury story
One Blackhawk parent who did not want to be named says that while the victim is a “punk,” Milbury’s son is “a dirty player and a bigger punk, and not that good of a hockey player.”
After the game, the teams held a shootout just for fun. During this, according to witnesses, Milbury’s son tried to pick a fight with the Blackhawk player. Coaches from both teams went on to the ice to break it up, and at this point, says a Blackhawks parent, Milbury grabbed the victim’s facemask and screamed at him, asking “What did you say to my son?” Milbury allegedly lifted the kid off the ground and shook him, yelling obscenities all the while, before dropping him roughly to the ice.

It’s not terribly surprising considering a lot of the players picked are highly drafted players from the 2010 draft (kids who are now 19), where we had no 1st rounder, and our 2nd round pick was a late cut (Ross), 3rd round pick McKegg isn’t having a stellar year, and 3rd round pick Olden’s country got relegated last year.

I was a bit surprised about McKegg to be honest. yes he’s having a bit of an off year, he’s also by far his best player on his team – which as a whole is totally horrible. But I guess we’ve got a team of better players out there. I was just hoping I’d get to see one of our guys play with really talented players to see what they could do.

Me too
but what can ya do. Can always hope for a trade to a contender.

I am really hoping for that, otherwise I would be relatively pissed at the Otters. They’re going to tank, they’ll need someone to replace his talent and he’s really the only trade chip they have.

Two if you count our eventual acquisition of Huberdeau

From Die By the Blade's preview:
“While [Connolly] isn’t the leading scorer for the Leafs, he also isn’t expected to be as he is playing on a line with Clarke MacArthur and Colby Armstrong.”
I feel like they’re trying to imply something, but I can’t quite figure out what.

That Tim Connolly is much better than Leino?

No, I don’t think it really is.
Doesn’t mean I can’t be biased, though. ;)

While [Leino] isn’t the leading scorer for the Sabers, he also isn’t expected to be as he is playing terrible

Maybe that we need one more ‘failed’ Sabre instead of Armstrong on that line?

I can’t believe Colborne is taking another faceoff. Has Toronto learned nothing this game?
Well, it was an icing, Glen.

Yeah
Those two. In a Canucks game. Against the Leafs.
Let the horror show begin!

I hope we don’t extend him until, at least, the Leafs officially make the playoffs.

Was injury free until the concussion and then injures his shoulder. I wouldn’t say he’s made of glass. Tim Connolly on the other hand.
